Daniel held out the one very old book that he had managed not to spill on the floor.
"Yeah, can you hold this?" he asked. The cover was old, very old, and the leather that bound it was pealing in areas on the cover. The writing on the cover was not in English or any other language from Earth.
"Well," said Daniel taking a chair and taking a tray from a weight rat that had been behind him," I have a door in my office to the bar, and I come here to get work done. Other than that I don't know."
He poured a cup of coffee and drank some.
"Ahhh, that's good," he said, "There is also the coffee, and some of my friends come here. Why are you here?"
"Coffee." said L. "I also here because I hear this bar serves a mean gin & tonic. I do find it rather convient that you have a door that leads to the bar from your office. What sort of work do you do, Mr ... ? "
"Dr," said Daniel, "Dr. Daniel Jackson. I am an Archaeologist, Linguist, and sometimes an Ethnologist. I work for the government, and the rest is confidential. Mr...."
"Ryuga. Hideki Ryuga." responds L. "I too sometimes dabble in classified business for the government. It gets stressful, at times, and a good drink can take the edge off."
L holds up his coffee, looks at it, adds a few more sugar cubes, and takes a sip.
"It really hits the spot. I also asked for a slice of cake earlier, but it hasn’t come yet. Care to join me?"
