Coffee in hand, Connor is wandering around and spots a lady he remembers from somewhere... generally he's pretty good with remembering where he's seen someone, but he's not making the connection with this one.

"Afternoon. Forgive me, I know we've met, but I am having a serious memory lapse today." And he offers a still-half-tired smile.

Elaine smiles. "Hello. My name is Elaine. I believe it was the night we all decorated the tree that we met."

The lightbulb goes off.

"Right... I was talking to the not-tree and you and the guy you were with had a question about something. I remember now." He extends his right hand - which just happens to be the one *not* holding the coffee mug. "Connor."

Elaine rubs pencil dust off on her skirts before shaking his hand. (She's learned about that in the past few months. ;-) ) "It's a pleasure to meet you. Won't you sit down?"

"Likewise. If you don't mind, I'll stand. Otherwise I might fall asleep. But thank you."

He sees the sketchbook. "Drawing anything interesting?"

"Oh, just various people in the bar. I find a number of interesting subjects here. I sometimes draw from memory, when it is especially clear."

"And who do you find intriguing today? And I won't be offended if you don't say me." He grins and drinks his coffee.

Elaine laughs. "I hadn't seen you yet. But there's a man sleeping in the chair there...and there's Jake, and his small creature-friend...I find animals hard to draw, so it's good when I find one sleeping or staying still so I can practice." She shows him her sketches, which are still pretty rough.

"Not bad. My art generally involves a sword." Or, other things that one doesn't mention in polite company - so he won't.

"Oh, I am taking lessons from Alanna in swordplay. I've only just started--I could barely walk the first two days after my first lesson, but I think I am improving with practice."

He laughs. "Yeah, I had similar issues when I first learned, but that was something like 470 years ago," he comments with a bright smile. That coffee must be working.

"Well, that is an especially long time ago. How long have you been here in the bar?"

"Since this morning on my most recent trip. Since sometime in September initially. You?"

"Oh, it was sometime in mid-September, I believe. It was most disconcerting to find myself here, when I fully expected either the flames of Hell or the glory of Heaven." She grins a bit.

He grins, ruefully. "I had a similar experience when I died the first time."

Elaine raises an eyebrow. "People who frequent this bar tend to die more than once, it seems. I hope I do not die a second time anytime soon. How many times have you died?"
