Ellen's sitting at the bar, reading over what looks like a letter.
By the time anyone gets close enough to read its contents, it'll be folded up and placed in her back pocket in the blink of an eye.
It's only a minor comfort, knowing Joanna's out there, safe somewhere. The rest isn't something a strong glass of liquor can't fix.
"Whiskey, please, Bar," she says, just loud enough to be audible, voice low and rasping. "Neat."

"Are you well, ma'am?"
no subject
Which may not be well at all, depending on the kind of person you are.
But she's managed just fine.

With a careful and worried gesture, Jane rubs at her neck before drinking some of her tea.

"Interestin' place to have a bandage."

"I was recently hurt there, ma'am."
Saying that possibly a vampire bit her seems strange even here because it feels too much as if she's become a character from a Gothic Romance.

It doesn't take away a certain level of curiosity, though.
"Nothin' too serious?"

Jane has a slight tremor to her voice since she is a woman who likes to always know what is going on and this makes her feel terribly vulnerable.

That's enough to put all of Ellen's instincts on high alert. If there's something trying to bite people in the bar - and she has a pretty damn good idea of what, exactly - someone needs to do something about it.
"You don't remember anythin' at all?"

"You don't say."

Jane takes a sip of tea though it is not as bracing as she would like it to be and considers ordering something stronger.

She points to her tumbler.
"If anythin', it'll put some more color in your face."

A glass appears in front of her and Jane smiles, it looks rather brighter.

"Jane, huh? I'm Ellen."

Jane takes a good long sip of the whiskey and blanches slightly before a bit more color starts to come into her face.

She takes another sip of her drink.
