Milliways is up one vampire Slayer, wandering in from the staff wing with her nose buried in a book.
No, this is not as rare a circumstance as you might believe: the book in question is a Watcher's Diary from the 18th Century, and the history of Vampire Slayers happens to be Mel's very personal area of dorkery.
Without once looking up from her book, she swings by Bar, picks up a pint of nog and a plate of fried paradoxes and finds her way to a table in the middle of the bar.
And there she remains.

Someone might have a little too much extra energy, which...for Mike these days is kind of strange. Pregnancy has left him kind of lethargic. Well...lethargic for Mike.
"I'm not interrupting, am I?"

Mel proves it by reaching around him and bundling him into her lap, bump and all.
"Just on duty."

Strong warrior womens.
Gotta love'em.
"Oh well in that case we should do something all official-like and talk about work. That way we can call this A Meeting, and not just the Two of Us Groping Each Other."

Mel pouts.

Mike pouts right along with her, but only as a ruse to keep her from noticing that he's bring his hand up to her face. With his thumb on her bottom lip, Mike begins to supply Mel's portion of the conversation.
"I think that's a brilliant idea!"
"Do you DayTripper?"
"Yup. Totally."

"Vampire attack."

"You're not kidding, are you?"

"Vic's out of bar right now, but remembered nothin useful."
Sigh.

When does all this stuff happen? It's not like Mike lives anywhere else these days! How does he keep missing this sort of thing?

"Which Jane Austen?"
no subject
Mike loves him some Austen. Even if it does take him more than a single pass through any given chapter to really understand any of it.

Was it Harth?

"I never met her."
Therefore - no reason to leap to Harth shaped conclusions.

Gotta love that family bond, right?
"So there's a new lurk in town, huh?"
When he sighs his cheeks puff out. Then he lays his head on her shoulder.
"Never a dull moment, huh?"

"Vacation? You know...once the baby is born and I get my bathingsuit body back."
Under her hand the baby moves.

"Let's ask around, see if anyone'll let us through."

He would have suggested they merely go to the Outlet and just camp on the beach, but...that's where the Pirates come from. After this whole ordeal he's thinking Pirates might be the last thing he wants to see.

"Warm," Mel says firmly. "With sun. Lots of sun and stars at night.
"We know any cowboys?"
