As soon as Dot enters the bar she drops a small file window onto the Bartop.

"Bar, if you could distribute these to everyone on the list, I'd much appreciate it, thank you."

What that out of the way and a nice digitized NA Egg Nog offered up by Bar, Dot's going to set up a little play area for the artist of this year's card. Mairi's still got some physical development to get a little help with. After all she's just started crawling on her own properly...

One Mother and daughter playing on a blanket in one corner of the Bar tonight, friends and well-meaning company welcome!

Vexen shrugs. 'I am not offended by her interpretation of me.'

Mostly because he can't be offended. He can't feel anything, which is convenient sometimes but at others just reminds him of the the only thing he can feel, which is the feeling of loss and emptiness that his lack of a heart brings. A sense of being incomplete.

'It is the vocal reaction, that I find the most distressing.'

How fortunate that Vexen does not have Zexion's olfactory sensitivity, though he's by no means numb to smells.

'I am not particularly worried about being attacked, only the headaches.'

He looks down at Mairi, a somewhat wary expression on his face. 'Would you be able to advise me on how to avoid such episodes in the future? Until I find a way to obtain a heart, I cannot alter my nature.'

And a modification of Mairi's ability to sense the dangers that she can probably would not go over very well.

'That would be much appreciated. I can find something to occupy myself at that point, though it would also be convenient if she were to learn to tolerate my presence.' After all, sometimes he may need to be downstairs, or wherever 'within range' is for Mairi.

He pauses at Dot's unvoiced inquiry.

'Not necessarily mine, though if possible that would be the best solution. A replacement heart would also be acceptable.'

Mia has offered to help him, but if Dot is willing to offer aid, he will accept that as well. While he would prefer to prove himself by doing everything on his own, he also realises that he has the best chance of success if he utilizes the available resources.

Vexen nods his head. 'If you are willing to assist me, then I would be most appreciative. Mia offered to aid, having had experience with finding hearts for those like me, but she is nearly the birth of her child and is thus unable to help with as much enthusiasm as earlier. You may, however, find her to be a valuable source of information.'

He watches Mairi cautiously for a moment, then inclines his head in agreement. 'Is there anyone else I should watch for, accompanying her?'

'Bob.' Vexen has a good memory, that at least can be said about him, and with the description, he'll be certain to recognise Bob when he sees him.

He pauses a moment and gives Dot a level look. 'What do you wish in recompense, for your assistance? I do not like to leave debts outstanding.'

The Academic considers this for a moment and then nods.

'Agreed,' he says. 'In that event, however, I will either need specifications for your world, or to see it myself.'

Otherwise, he's building blind and possibly useless.

Oh, Vexen smelled it some time ago.

So, he stopped breathing. It's one of the perks of not actually being alive.

'Of course.' He sketches a shallow bow of acknowledgment. 'Thank you again, for the device.'
