Jamie's got one eye behind him as he tumbles into the bar, looking rather incongruously dapper in a smart waistcoat and cap.

He eyes the silver candlesticks in his hand rather ruefully - much good they'll do him now!

There's a familiar, aqua-haired head nearby as Jamie tumbles into the bar, and AndrAIa laughs as she catches sight of him.

"Who are you running from this time, Jamie?"

"The brass," Jamie says, picking himself up and dusting himself off.

"Well, the equivalent, you know. They came running awful quick. I've got to say I'm impressed."

"Someone's got to keep you on your toes."

Beat.

"Good to see you're looking after yourself."

"No fear!"

Jamie grins at her, and nods over towards a table before heading there - he at least would like to sit.

"I quite like my own skin intact. How've you been?"

Forgive her if she doesn't get up and move, she's comfortable, and the considerable baby belly makes things a bit difficult.

"I've been good. Making up room for the baby mostly."

AndrAIa's pregnancy is a decent time marker - or, well, it might be, anyways; Jamie isn't really sure how long AndrAIa's people are supposed to be pregnant for. Still, it's a good bet it hasn't been all that long.

"How close is, you know, the event?"

Smiling, the Game sprite runs a hand over her belly.

"She's due in nearly four months."

Jamie's glad enough not to be a girl anyways . . . but the idea crosses his mind that if he ever got pregnant, he'd likely have to spend about a hundred years that way, and that's enough to make him about ten times as thankful.

"Not so long, then!" he says, chipper.

AndrAIa nods her agreement.

"Not long at all. This last year has gone by quickly."

And hasn't it just.

"It's been a bit longer for me," Jamie understates. "Hard to keep track of how much time's gone by in the bar, whenever I'm gone."

She smiles wryly.

"Glad I can add a sense of perspective for you."

Jamie laughs. "I'm sure that's the most important thing on your mind right now, yeah?"

The Game sprite chuckles.

"But of course!"

"Well, it's only natural," Jamie says solemnly. "Seeing as I am the most important person in the universe."

It's kind of true! For Jamie's universe. In . . . a way . . .

"Wouldn't want you gone too long, anyway," AndrAIa quips. "The baby should know her uncle Jamie."

Jamie looks a bit startled, at that - but says, cheerfully, "Well, I've got practice being a - well, a great-uncle really, but it amounts to the same thing. I reckon I did a decent job."

He still stops by sometimes to visit Adam's descendants, and Vanessa's too. They don't know who he is, of course. It's easiest when they're his own age. Once they grow it's harder.

She smiles fondly at Jamie. "Shouldn't be to hard, then."

"I think I was the good-influence sort of uncle," Jamie says, solemn. "I can't imagine why they wouldn't have agreed."

"I happen to think you'd make an excellent uncle, Jamie."

Jamie's grin is easy. "I appreciate the chance."

He hesitates a moment, then adds, lightly, "So long as it's understood I'm the fun, comes-and-goes sort of uncle, not the reliable, trusty sort."

Smirking, the Game sprite nods.

"I thought that went without saying."

"It ought, really," Jamie says, with a laugh. "You'd be surprised how many people try and stick responsibilities on you when you're not looking."

Of course, Jamie doesn't much mind if they're people he doesn't care about disappointing. No skin off his nose if they're short an important staff member when he skips off.

Just as long as he doesn't skip off in the middle of babysitting if it comes up, AndrAIa is happy.

"Sneaky things, those responsibilities."

Fortunately, Jamie will also do his best to duck out of babysitting whenever possible! Jamie does not change diapers unless he is getting paid for it.

"I was never all that big on them, myself."

Oh, he'll be well compensated, of course.

"Unfortunately, they happen."

Oh, well, in that case, Jamie's all for it!

Breezily: "To other people."

They'll draw up the paperwork later.

AndrAIa laughs.

"Just you wait, Jamie."
