Ianto Jones is writing in his diary and having coffee.

There's a lot of catching up to do--things happen fast sometimes, and it wasn't but two pages ago that he was missing Jack and wondering what he'd say if Jack ever returned, and now...

Well, Ianto doesn't use a lot of exclamation points, as a general rule. But one or two may have turned up in today's entry.

"But on the other hand, kittens."

Cal relaxes, conceding the point with a wry smile.

"True," he says. "Maybe I should be grateful to him instead."

Ianto smiles at him. "Maybe in twenty years or so politics will be a bit more bearable. In the meantime, kittens.

"He did terrible things to Jack. So terrible Jack won't tell me. So I'm going to focus on the kittens myself."

"Ah." Cal's smile slips.

Maybe not so grateful, then.

"Yeah, good call."

Ianto nods.

"I'm not sure the new bloke is much better, but at least he's not going to sell us out to aliens."

"Or invent them," Cal agrees.
