Being about to go on a mission makes Tanya restless.

It is a good thing Milliways came to her rescue, and an even better thing she does not need to wear the silly be-skirted formal uniform anymore.

In a few days she will depart for enemy territory in a dangerous gamble to turn the tides of war. Right now she is relaxing with hot cocoa.

"Nuclear?!?" the pixies exclaims with a burst of red pixie dust and instinctively he draws his sword. Gesturing wildly with it he continues, "What if they can't get the garden they're gonna poison everything? What's the hells wrong with them!?!"

"No idea. General Vladimir had Chicago wiped out with a nuclear missile when we retook the city from his troops a few weeks ago." Her expression is grim.

"Tink's titties," Jenks says grimly. "Someone oughta pix his shorts into the next the millennium!"

"We are working on that. First thing is to take care of their missiles, so Germany, France and England can help the United States."

"What do you have in mind?" Jenks asks casually, sensing a potential to earn some coin. He's not hurting for money back home but explaining expenditures occasioned within a magic bar might be awkward. It would be useful to have his own expense account here.

"I am part of a covert operation in Eastern Europe. We will try to invade and shut down the Soviet Missile Command Bunker, so the European nations can open a new front and stop Romanov from sending more troops to North America."

Damn, sounds like a job for big folk but still, doesn't hurt to ask right?

"You wouldn't have a place for a four inch back-up or infiltrator with electronic and computer experience would you?"

Tanya blinks in surprise, and nods. "Actually, I would. We need to sneak a bug into a Soviet Battle Lab in the area. It will extract all kinds of essential information we need."

"But I can not offer too much in the way of payment."

Jenks makes a show of scratching his jaw as if pondering the proposal.

"Well to be honest, I was only interested in some cash to spend here so I didn't have to explain any missing money back home and pollen and honey don't cost all that much, even the good stuff. Plus, I'm curious to try my skills at something Military. Vamps with grandiose mafioso airs are a challenge but nothing to military."

"If you can mess with the soviet's data files... anything you can extract, record, and well, carry, you can keep. Just give me a copy."

"I can pay you a few hundred dollars."

"Sounds good," he replies and offers up his hand to shake. "Of course your device will need to take my size into account and it can't be too heavy. And unless you have any sort of transfer media that's my size, you'll have to trust my word on what I find. You can trust me though, I ain't no faerie turd to make up stories just to get paid."

She takes his hand gently between two fingers. "It is, has to be small to go unnoticed as long as possible. Three hundred?"

"You've bought yourself a pixie," Jenks replies. You can definitely buy a lot of honey with three hundred dollars. "Where's the run? And when?"

"In a few days, somewhere in eastern Europe; I will be taken there and get my maps and mission information, then look for a door here to pick up the people who will be helping."

"I don't know much about eastern Europe except that it's cold most of the time right? That could be a problem for me unless the Bar can give me warmth amulets."

"It should not be too much of a problem. At least after you sneak inside, you can count on the facility being warm enough."

"But it will be a night operation and it is winter back home too."

"Lots of warmth amulets then. Dark clothes then or white? And I can dim my wings so they're not so noticeable."

"I think you will do better with dark: it is mountainous terrain, and there should be lots of shadows." Tanya is not going to say he also might be mistaken for a small bird or large bug at a distance...
