An unexpected trip to Milliways

L lumbered into the bar. He looked left … and right. Taking in a deep breath, he shoved his hands deep into his pockets and made his way to a table. A rat took his usual order of coffee, powdered doughnuts, cake, and about 10 bowls of sugar cubes.

This time L had no reason to come to Milliways. He was just bored, as the Kira Investigation was going no where at the moment. So, he decided to pay a little visit to one of his favorite places.

A young woman in a yellow military uniform came bursting through the door carrying a large canonlike gun.

L took a sip of his coffee and looked up. He looked up at the woman.

"Well, this is Milliways." he thought.

"Not this bloody place again!" she said exasperated, there was blood cast off on her clothes and her face.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

L had made his way over to the interesting girl.

"I take it you do not like Milliways?"

[flail_victoria]

"Not today," she said looking at the strange guy talking to her, her eyes were fading from red to blue.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"Hmmm .... interesting oculars you have there. It's like a police car."

[flail_victoria]

"Wha..." was all he got from her. Her jaw worked but she said nothing, sharp teeth glinted in the light of the bar.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"Sudden onset laryngitis ?" he asked

[flail_victoria]

"Your quite bloody minded aren't you?" she asked.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"Well," said, looking down at his bare feet, "I don't like to think so. In fact," he said, lookg up, grinning, "I find myself to be quite the chipper fellow."

"Really," said Seras.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"Indeed I do. If you care to come back to my table, I can tell you more ... I have cake!" said L, enticingly.

"Um... okay," she said wonder how she might get out of eating.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

L led her back to his table covered in sugary confections.

"Please, have a seat." he offered. "Have some cake if you wish."

[flail_victoria]

"Uh no thanks," she said.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"Are you sure? It's extra delicious."

[flail_victoria]

"I would but I cant," she said with a slight blush to her palor.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"Can't? Why not?" asked L.

[flail_victoria]

"Uh.. heh, well, I'm... uh... a vampire," sah e said with a nervous sharp grin.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"I see." said L, sitting down his usual way. "That does sound interesting."

[flail_victoria]

"Not really," she said, " Why do you sit that way?"

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"It helps me think. If I were to sit any other way, my IQ would decrease 30%"

[flail_victoria]

Seras would sit that way but look at that short skirt.

"Interesting," she said finding a napkin on the table and wiping blood and gore from her face and hands.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"Did you just come from battle?" asked L, sipping some coffee.

[flail_victoria]

"Uh, kinda," said Seras, "I was just out on assignment."

[l_is_ryuzaki]

L stirred a handful of sugar cubes into his coffee.

"What kind of assignment?"

[flail_victoria]

"Isn't that a lot of sugar?" asked Seras not answering his question.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"Not nearly enough, rather. I like their coffee ... but it's too black for me."

[flail_victoria]

"Maybe you should see about making coffee flavored sugar cubes," she said.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

L's eyes widened like a deer caught in the headlights.

"That ... is ... GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!"

[flail_victoria]

"I think if you cover some sugar with coffee and let it sit for a bit and then I guess you can pour it into an ice tray," she said, "It shouldn't be that hard."

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"Hmmm." said L, settling back down after the excitement.

"I suppose that would be an interesting idea. But, for now," he said, stirring in the sugar cubes and taking a sip, "this is what I have to work with."

"True," she said.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

"Hmmm ... what were we talking of before? Oh yes! How I seem to find myself to be quite the chipper fellow." said L.

[flail_victoria]

"Really?" asked Seras a little exasperated.

[l_is_ryuzaki]

Suddenly, L felt a vibration in his pocket. He stood up and answered his cell phone.

"Yes Watari?" said L into his phone, "Kiyomi Takada is leaving the station? Follow her, I'll be en route soon."

L turned to Seras.

"I'm sorry I have to leave Seras, but I have urgent business to attend to." said L, before turning and leaving the bar.

Seras looked a little too happy about that.

"Good luck," she said.
