The door to the worlds opens and a Seeker walks through. First true Seeker of Truth in a thousand years. That and Zed and Kahlan talking about his destiny are bad enough, especially since he didn't believe in destiny. But add to that that he was apparently the last living descendant of the Rahl line, and his brain started to hurt.
It's a thoughtful and possibly slightly frustrated Richard that enters the bar tonight. Who takes a seat at an empty table and orders a beer from a passing waitrat. Beer was what Edie had shown him last time. It was close enough to Spirits and he could only get it here, so he got the rarity.
Feel free to bother the Seeker (Lord Rahl)

"Seeker," she says, when she finally speaks. It sounds like she's tasting him with her words. "How exquisitely lovely to see you again.

"Mistress Denna," he says stiffly. "How...interesting to see you here." It a place he thought might become his safe haven.

She settles in the seat across from him, eyes not leaving him for a second as she orders an ale.
"I saw you leave," she says. "I came here very recently...after you, ah, gave me the greatest gift you could have."
no subject
Slight confusion makes it through, onto his features, "Greatest gift?"

That word sounds extremely bitter; like it leaves a bad taste in her mouth, and curls her lip.

Distance is good when dealing with Denna.
"The power of Orden was broken when Darken Rahl interrupted me putting the boxes together. It cost him his life and tore a rift in the veil."
no subject
"No, that is not possible. The only way that is possible is if I am dead, and your Confessor certainly didn't get the opportunity to do that."
She takes a long breath.
"As I can control your magic, I control Orden."

I haven't seen you since you ran off. And I only know what is true. A screeling attacked a village, gaining access through a tear."

He shifts just a little, chin tilting just slightly. "The only reason the Agiels still work are because I'm alive." Which should be enough to tell her he's of Rahl blood. Even if he's still wrapping his head around it himself.
no subject
"I don't believe it. A Rahl? Hardly."
But in the back of her mind, it makes sense.

Another swig of beer is taken as he watches her, "Believe it or not, Darken Rahl is dead and thanks to me being the new Lord Rahl, your Agiel still works."
no subject
"Then believe me, Lord Rahl, I'm either your greatest weapon or worst nightmare."
no subject
"Take me out and you bring the downfall of all Mord'Sith." No Rahl magic and all that jazz.

Which she proves in the following way. Her mug of ale swings from the right, hitting him against the side of the head as she kicks the table out of her way. Before she's really thinking, she's straddling his lap, pressing herself against him quite deliberately.
"Oh, but Richard," she says, whispering, her warm breath in his ear. "You know I don't have to kill you; and even if I do, I can bring you back, to have more fun with you."
no subject
His head leans back a little, even has his breath pauses slightly and heartbeat accelerating. A shiver says he knows how much fun time with her, what kind of fun she's talking about. "Does your Breath of Life work without a living Rahl?" One of the age old questions. The Agiels won't, but the magic they were given by his bloodline, he isn't sure.
no subject
"Would you like to find out, Seeker? I think I know the answer, but, who knows...I could be wrong."
Her hips roll slightly against him, the heat of her body amplified by the leather, as the Agiel hovers close to his skin.
"I believe I read somewhere about a Lord who liked to play with his Chosen..."
no subject
He really wouldn't want her to be wrong...when did he even start considering her offer?
The words that come out his mouth aren't completely his, so he'd argue anyway, "Did you really?"
no subject
Her gloved fingers rest against his face. "Darken Rahl, as you know, rewarded me the night of my final trail with time in his bed. Pain and pleasure are twinned things...I can do both."
no subject
"Sure I was born by that point?"
no subject
"You would have been about ten years old, when it happened; when he broke me and my training was completed. I am not that much older than you are, pet. Wiser, yes. Much older, no."
no subject
"Right." His hands do nothing but rest where they are, though he murmurs, "You're still on top of me."
no subject
She'll just make him pay for his sins upstairs."I will always be on top of you," she says firmly. "I am your Mistress; you would do well in remembering that."
no subject
He can't say he won't enjoy that..."And yet I'm your Lord Rahl now."
