"No, see--" Duo waves his spoon at River for emphasis, and then hastily lowers it before ice cream drips onto the couch. "Real cherries are acceptable. Maraschino cherries are an abomination. It's an important distinction!"

River eats a sprinkle with her fingers, looking dubious. "It's a paradigmatic rewriting," she informs him. "Got extra sugar."

So, to sum up: River and Duo have a couch shared between them, a fairly epic ice cream sundae apiece, and a lot of precisely constructed paper airplanes strewn around them. (Some have physics equations written on them.) Come say hi!

"Yes," she says, a scowl still on her face. This is mostly from confusion at this point.

She is not sure what is going on, but she doesn't like it!

Well, the unvarnished truth is probably best, in this case. And it's not like little girls don't understand being in love. Hell, they probably know the idea better than most.

"Puck was mad because I told him I knew he was in love with Havelock."

Huh?

"But- that doesn't make much sense."

Oh, Ingress. Welcome to being friends with Puck.

River makes a face at her ice cream, which is probably in lieu of making a face at Puck.

"It's a feature," she mutters.

Honestly, Puck.

To Ingress, and less under her breath, she says, "Thinks he's a man of mystery. The obviousness is problematic."

"Yeah, it's not like it isn't obvious."

To people who have known him for a few years, away. Puck is admittedly inscrutable to many, but when you've had hair pulling fights with the guy, he's easier to read.

Ingress has lost this thread of the conversation, since she does not know the details about Havelock and Puck. She's relieved that there is a Havelock and Puck, because she was quite worried there for a minute.

"So... You're both friends of Puck's. And you tease him and call him dummy. But you're friends."

Um. Okay. Maybe she should ask Puck more about this.

"This is really weird. But okay. Um. River, I think I'll talk to you later, okay? And, um, you too, Duo."

Maybe.

She gives a rather feeble wave and wanders off. Yeah, she wants to find out the real story from Puck.

"We'll have ice cream," River says softly to her back.

"Call it a rain date. Atmospheric variation is subjective."

That went well.

"I think we need to have a little talk with Mr. Goodfellow," Duo says, tapping his spoon on his empty ice cream dish.
