It has been a million and a half years since James was last in the bar.

So, what is the first thing he does? (Well, after a quick bite to eat and a visit to his old room.) He takes his broom out for a spin.

Later, while his younger brother is elsewhere in the bar - at an older age than James currently is, might we add (only in Milliways!) - James himself (in his Quidditch robes) is outside by the porch, absent-mindedly picking at the worn leather of his boots. His broom is propped next to him.

He'd forgotten how much he missed this place.

Ginny bites her lips as she thinks about what she's done.

"Good chance on that, but then my Mum was the same way."

"Yeah. You and grandmum are really alike," he says.

Maybe that's not the best thing to say to a teenage girl when the last thing she tries to be is her mother.

But this is James we're talking about. When does he ever think of those things beforehand?

Ginny raises an eyebrow at him.

"Is this the part I point how much like Harry you are?"

With some of the twins mixed in...

James grins.

"I dunno. But I get told that sometimes. Mostly, people say I'm a lot like my uncle George."

Ginny nods and takes a deep breath as she thinks about it.

"You are, you are a mix of Harry and George you would have liked him."

"Well, I do like them," he argues, because it's true. Old though they may be, he loves them.

They're brilliant.

But he knows what she means.

It would be cool to know them at their younger age, too.

"I met dad here once. Like - when he was your age."

Ginny looks at him and raises an eyebrow.

"Yeah, I've rarely seen Harry here at any age."

"Well, I haven't seen him since," says James a little glumly. "I'd hoped it wasn't a one-time thing, because it'd be really cool to know more about what dad was like when he was only a little older than me. I'm thirteen now."

Ginny nods" I'm 17, so not that much older. And I was hoping to see him here too."

"Well, it's the end of the universe, yeah? Anything could happen here."

James has pretty much learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to this place.

He is talking to his mum from a completely separate timeline, after all.

"Yeah, true. We could be sitting here and he could walk thought that door... as a first year."

"... yeah. 'Xactly."

Now he's looking towards the door, a little suspicious that they very well just might see him come through the door.
