The blonde cheerleader and the delicate, amber-eyed boy are seated across from each other at a table near the observation window. They are both gazing into each other's faces.
The girl has an expression of faint uncomfortable wariness, while the boy has no expression whatsoever. (Not a discernible one, anyway.)
After a lengthy pause, Brittany blinks.
"I forget if I win or I lose ..."
A beat.
"You have eyelashes like a girl."
[ooc: plz to specify Brittany (
birdinherlocker) or Mytho (
princeinpieces). Love!]

- he's staring into a girl's eyes . . .?
"Uhhhhhh," says Duck, stopping short by Mytho's table (and almost falling over in the process - it's not so easy to go from a headlong dash to a full stop!)
Maybe she's interrupting . . .
But, Mytho's supposed to be with Rue! So maybe she should be interrupting . . . and she's definitely not gonna be thinking about Princess Tutu and the things Mytho said to her or anything, 'cause that's just silly. Anyway: Rue! That means it's okay for Duck to interrupt.
"Hi, Mytho!"
no subject
Or at least blank.
"Hello, Duck."
no subject
"I don't get it."
no subject
"Mytho and I are friends! I guess you guys are friends too, huh? That's great - I mean, it's always wonderful to make new friends! Although I dunno, maybe you've been friends a long time and I just didn't know, hahahaha!"
I mean, it's natural for Mytho to make friends, right? Because he's so awesome.
no subject
(Mytho appears unfazed, although on the inside he is wondering about friendship.
Wasn't there a boy here who told him what it looked like ...?)
Tentatively, she says, "Are you off your ADD meds?"
no subject
You wouldn't think confusion would throw Duck off her stride! It happens so often, after all.
And yet.
no subject
A beat.
Then, uninflected, "One time Stacy went off her meds at regionals and she threw a mini fridge out the window."
They were at a hotel in Columbus.
It ended about as well as you'd expect.

He knows it's directed at Mytho. (And inaccurately; Mytho has eyelashes like somebody wearing false eyelashes for the stage, and Trowa's not totally certain he's not.) He glances at Brittany anyway.
no subject
But she has an excellent eye for hair.
Trowa's, therefore, becomes an immediate target for scrutiny, by which we mean empty staring.
no subject
Well. Waits. The politeness we shall presume as the benefit of the doubt.

It is unclear if she has yet come to a conclusion.

So when he stomps by Brittany and Mytho's table, he doesn't have it in him to maintain the mask of pleasant curiosity he's been wearing since he stumbled into Milliways. Instead he stops and after a moment of assessing them both (the white haired boy is dismissed as either too absent-minded to be of use or drugged) and snaps. "Hey. Girl. How the hell are you supposed to get out of here if the door's stuck?"
no subject
(So does Mytho.)
"Did you try pushing instead of pulling?" she asks.
That usually solves it for her.
no subject
(He learned it from Chris Rodriguez one summer. It sounded pretty, and he's always like spending time with Chris; he was one of the few campers who seemed as bitter as he should be about the hand their parents dealt them.)
"I tried pushing and pulling. I tried yanking. I tried kicking. I even tried asking that hunk of wood over there for a sword to hack my way thought, but it thinks it's funny and gave me a sword made by Nerf." He thought about trying it anyway, to see if this was something that only worked on doors in the bar, but there were limits to how ridiculous he was willing to make himself look in public. Slashing at a door with Nerf weaponry was right out. "So if you could show me another way out of this place, preferably before the next Ice Age, that'd be great."
no subject
"Oh," she says.
"I usually just ... wait ...."
no subject
"Look, all I'm asking for is another way out. A back door, a ladder, a, a, - a fucking teleporter, I don't know what this place has. Just something to get out and back to the camp before Chiron figures out I'm gone and everything goes to Hades. I can make it worth your while."
It hasn't occurred to him that Brittaney's being perfectly honest with him. He automatically assumes she's hiding something.
no subject
"If you wanna go outside there's a lake with a beach ..."
Beat.
"It's pretty awesome. I might work on my tan."

There may be a faint flicker of ... something, in his face, though it may be no more than recognition. And anyway, it's soon gone.
"Hello, Rue."
no subject
"Who does your hair?"
no subject
She breathes out through her nose, and settles a very little bit closer to her boyfriend.
no subject
Eyes narrowed, though without any particular maliciousness (it's more like wariness), Brittany says, "I'm Brittany."
no subject
Mild: "Mytho, it's rude to not pay attention."
