Penny was never really that good at Divination and just about managed Arithmancy. Still, she'd gone outside to the lake and picked up enough rocks to make a rune set out of. Being a Ravenclaw, when packing up for an escape into nowhere in particular, she brought all of her textbooks with her in her Bottomless Backpack. That includes her sixth year Divination textbook that included runic divination.

Now she's sat at a table in the bar throwing nine rune stones again and again with the same result each time. It's almost uncanny if you watch it. You'd probably get some entertainment from the not-quite swearwords she's muttering as well. She could probably do with a break to be honest but she's not going to do so on her own; she's too focussed on getting a different answer out of the rocks in front of her to do so.

"That's... that's quite odd." She can't really imagine there being cities on the moon, let alone magical ones. "Magic must be far more prevalent where you're from for there to be a capital for it." She doesn't sound envious at all, really.

"From what I can tell it's mostly just more well known. We don't have a law of secrecy at home. Having said that, it is rare to find someone completely without the talent to use magic, even if they never pursue it. I've only met one or two people at home who could be considered magicless."

She's not using the word muggle. She doesn't like the word muggle, at least not when it comes to describing people.

"Both my mum and sister Sam were born without magic - I'm what my world would call a half-blood." She always hated the terminology used by her world, it was almost like that used in the States years ago with slaves. "But to have nearly everyone with magic..." She thinks on that for a few seconds, "I bet that solves and brings up a lot of problems."

"It does. My world isn't very different from yours, just a different set of prejudices. The most difficult one in recent years has been Vane's strong feelings of xenophobia. It made Draco's already hard decision to leave his family even worse, moving to a city that would rather have nothing to do with him."

"Hmm, I expect it would have been hard both ways. If his world was anything like mine when I left it, it would have been very dangerous for you. Especially considering the Malfoy family's affiliations." She shrugs, feeling for both of them. "Is it any better for you now?"

"Oh yes, things have gotten better both in my home and in Draco's. And Draco's recovered quite well considering the war had cost him much of his mind through nightmares and memory charms. He's a much happier, if still occasionally scathing, person now."

Penny smiles, "I'm glad he's happier. I have to admit, I always felt a little sorry for him having his dad who he was. There were a lot of us in the Ministry offices who said he only got out of Azkaban the first time round because of his name and his money. I hate to think what Draco must have gone through actually going through the war though. I'm glad I ran when I did." She might be called a coward by some but she doesn't think she is, not when her whole office did the disappearing trick with all the information in it. No Death Eaters would find the Muggle-born family homes that easily, or find where to disrupt Muggle workings with the Wizarding World.

"Lucius has mellowed some since becoming a grandfather. That or Narcissa has become more vocal since becoming a grandmother."

Which makes Mia wonder just who's running that household.

"I taught Draco a little bit of how to fight. He would have needed to learn anyway since he wanted to move to my world. Lunar is more dangerous than the Wizarding World during times of peace. Wild creatures roaming about make travel difficult if you don't know how to defend yourself."

"Well, from what I've heard of the Black family I wouldn't be surprised if she finally took charge a little more." Even half-bloods working with Muggles half the time get to learn about the Old Families in the Wizarding World. At school mostly because she had to deal with Slytherins and the occasional Ravenclaw trying to press that advantage over her when she was a prefect. Didn't work.

"What sort of creatures? And does that mean our magics are compatible?" It'd be very interesting if they were. She's not sure what she could do with the information but it'd still be good to note it down.

"Oh, many marvelous but dangerous creatures. My favorites are the gorgons."

She gets out her Milliways room key, which is identified by a gorgon rather than a room number.

"There are also grog snakes, truffle troublers, shiro mongrels, and many other animals. Most of those can be found near Vane, usually in the Cave of Trial. We also have actual truffles, which have become a natural part of local cuisine."

"I really should have taken Care of Magical Creatures so I could compare." She peers at the gorgon on the room key, "Weird. I can sort of see why you like them but it's still a little strange." She stands up straighter again, "I suppose it's to be expected, living on the moon and all, that you'd have different creatures than Earth." Something occurs to her, "Do you have an Earth?"

"We have the Blue Star, which I've assumed to be Earth. There are legends at home that say it used to be inhabited. Of course, plenty of people at home think that's just as fantastic as people on Earth thinking there's life on the Moon."

"Used to be inhabited? Do they say what happened to it?" Penny asks curiously. As for the rest of it, well, different worlds again.

"It was made uninhabitable in a war. Not the one against He Who Must Not Be Named, so you don't need to worry about any future exodus. The legends say a demigod named Zophar inspired wickedness in the hearts of men and began a war that ravaged the entire world. Althena, the goddess of Lunar, took pity on the survivors and made Lunar a living land so that they could start again. The legends also say that one day the people of Lunar will return to the Blue Star. But we don't think that will happen for at least another thousand years."

According to Luna on the last of it, anyway.

"That'd be the Muggles then. Even You-Know-Who couldn't do enough to destroy the whole world and the Wizarding Word doesn't have anything like a space program." She's well aware that there wouldn't be a second Burning Times should the Wizarding World be discovered again - there might be a Disection and possibly Blown Up time depending on what the Death Eaters did. She shakes her head free of those thoughts though, not much that could be done about it now. "I've never heard of those names though."

"That's the thing that puzzles me: a lot of Earth people haven't heard of either Zophar or Althena. I came to the conclusion that they wouldn't need to after it happened, which means you might actually be in my far-flung future, but it's still rather strange. And I'm still not sure if anyone from any of the Earths I've encountered here truly is connected to my Lunar."
