Luna Lovegood walks into the bar with her nose buried in Beyond Basilisks: The Hidden World of Experimental Breeding.

She seems only vaguely aware that she has stepped from Hogwarts into Milliways. Her attention is on her book. And on the faint rustling sound that has been following her since the end of her Transfiguration class. Clearly, she thinks, her ear for detecting nargles is improving.

In actuality, the rustling can be attributed to the sign stuck to the back of her robe – a piece of parchment with LOONY LOVEGOOD in purple and puce.

It's fairly lurid. And flashing.

"Uh... thanks!"

Definitely loony. But so are most of his friends at school, in one way or another. What the heck.

Luna quietly beams.

"You're welcome."

"So... what about your dad? What does he invent?"

"Oh, lots of things. Most recently, Spectrespecs."

"They're very handy for helping you see new things."

That sounds suspiciously like FentonTech.

"Like ghosts?"

"Oh, goodness, no," Luna says.

With a bit of a laugh.

"You don't need Sprectrespecs to see ghosts. They show up quite well on their own."

Hogwarts has a sizable ghost population.

"Unless they don't want to."

Some ghosts show up very nicely indeed...

Focus! "What do you see with them, then?"

Luna raises her eyebrows.

"With my eyes, of course."

"They're generally grey and see-throughy, but very easy to see. I was just speaking to the Grey Lady this evening about my Charms homework."

Ravenclaw's ghost always takes an interest in lessons.

"No, I mean what do you see with the Spectrespecs? And you must have different ghosts from the ones I know."

"He developed them to see wrackspurts. They fly into your ears and make your brains go all fuzzy."

They're handy for reading codes messages in the Quibbler as well.

"I'm quite fond of the ghosts. There are a lot of them at Hogwarts."

"They fly in your ears?"

[OOC: I just gotta say, Luna is the best person for talking at cross purposes with!]
