Dusk, outside

Urquhart is outside, watching the early sunset.

He's not shooting anything right now. The black fur rug he was making is finished.

Instead, he stands, with a mug of mulled wine in his hands, feet planted deep in the snow, and watches the daylight fade into the odd brownish yellow typical for snow clouds, and then, darkness falling, along with more snow.

It settles on his shoulders and in his hair.

It was hard to maintain a tough physique in a dungeon cell with only enough food to keep her alive. Sonya figured she wasn't nearly as strong as she once was, not with all the weight she's lost.

She's in the middle of working on it.

"1st lieutenant in the U.S army." She nodded.

Sonya suddenly wondered just what time he was from.

"Suppose you could compare a lieutant with being a deputy. A lieutenant is a low rank military officer. An officer of that rank will be put in charge of a platoon-that is a group between 16 and 50-soldiers, and assisting them will be a platoon sergeant. Three to five platoons make up a company that are lead by a commanding officer-usually a captain or a major."

"The army assigns them. When a soldier's finished with Basic training, they're assigned a position and a squad as part of a platoon. Sometimes they're given the option of transferring, but as a platoon leader I've the final say in the matter."

And truthfully, most of her men had long since gotten over the prejiduce of being led by a woman-and even if they did, the smart ones just kept their mouths shut and dealed with it.

She looked over at the moon as it rose. It was near freezing and while she wasn't too keen on sleeping, she thought it was time she'd head back to shelter.

"I should get going." She turned to him. "Thanks for the wine."
