Removing the snow from atop the wooden picnic table had been easy enough and Scorpius, now with his robes properly charmed to repel water and insulated to protect him from the cold, is lying atop of it.

With an almost half-empty bottle of (pilfered-from-his-friend) Ogden's Old forgotten beside him, a fire curling in his belly, and an old, charred broom at his feet.

He had been working on a modified charm for the broom. It hadn't turned out as well as he would've liked, as evident by the charred (and still smoking) remains of bristles.

He's obviously not too bothered by the experiment gone wrong. Maybe the firewhiskey helped or maybe it's just one of those days. Peacefully perfect - or perfectly peaceful - and he can't be bothered to care.

He's just going to enjoy the oncoming night, gloved fingers curled loosely around the neck of the bottle.

"Hmm..." Posner is totally unaware of his inexperience. Who hasn't played Truth or Dare, after all?

"Have you...ever kissed someone?"

He's assuming he has to answer that truthfully now. Veritaserum would surely help with this sort of thing. Not that Scorpius would need it for this particular question.

"Uhm. Yes," he says, suddenly shyer than he had been a moment ago.

The details are painfully boring and he isn't sure he needs to provide them, anyway.

Posner nods thoughtfully, reaching for the bottle to have another drink. Sometimes he wonders if he isn't the only person his age who's never kissed someone.

(Other times he's completely certain that Dakin's the only one of his classmates who has.)

"Your turn, then."

His turn?

"Oh, right. Uhm. Truth or dare, then."

That is how it goes, right?

"Truth," Posner says after a moment of thought.

Scorpius could return with the same question Posner posed, but that wouldn't be very creative of him.

He has to think for a few moments before he finds the right one.

"What, uhm - What's a question you'd most hate having to answer?"

"Hmm..." It's a sneaky sort of question, and that would usually bother Posner, but right now he's too busy thinking of an answer to be annoyed.

"What am I going to do if I don't get into Oxford?"

"What's in Oxford?" Scorpius asks, before he can stop himself. It isn't his turn, after all. But, he's curious!

Posner doesn't seem to notice.

"You really don't know? It's the best university in the country. Or in the top two at least."

He really doesn't, and, already flushed in the face from drinking, the colour in his cheeks darken from not knowing.

"Oh. So it's one of those Muggle schools then?"

"Oh...um...yes. It is. I suppose that would explain why you haven't heard of it," Posner says, brow furrowing in thought.

"Are there any wizard universities?"

Scorpius shakes his head, leaning back on his hands as he turns his gaze toward the night sky.

"After NEWTs, when we're done with our seventh year, we sort of just go on to our training or apprenticeships."

"NEWTs?" Posner asks, following Scorpius' gaze to look up at the sky himself.

"Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests. That's the proper name for them, even."

Scorpius huffs a sigh, just at the thought of the exams. He'll be studying for those next year.

Posner giggles. "At least it's honest."

He glances at Scorpius when the other boy sighs. "Have you taken them yet?"

"Not yet. Next year." He's lying down again, flicking a hand in the air in a vague gesture. "What would you be studying at your university?"

"History," Posner says, leaning back on his elbows. "If I make it that far. I've just finished my A-Levels. I still have to pass the entrance exam."

Scorpius knows someone else who rather likes history as well. Though, he's pretty sure Posner doesn't mean the Wizarding variety.

"What're A-Levels?"

"From the sound of it, they're like your NEWTs. Only...it doesn't stand for anything interesting. Just Advanced Levels."

Scorpius arches an eyebrow, considering.

"No, that isn't very interesting. They ought to think about changing it."

"Nastily Exhausting Muggle Tests?" Posner suggests, then shakes his head.

"No, that makes an awful acronym."
