Judging from the look on Nita's face, she wasn't expecting the door to the greenhouse to lead to Milliways -- but she's not displeased about it. The plants can wait a while.

Stripping off her mittens, she heads for the bar to order a hot cocoa (and considers, guiltily, that she should get some belated Christmas presents for her friends here. Between finals and an unexpected intervention in Brooklyn, there was barely time to get presents for her family and the Rodriguezes).

"That would be an awfully long way for her to travel just to cause havoc."

"Precisely."

A pause.

"I can only imagine fairy cats would be much more annoying." Judging by the fairies she's acquainted with.

"Well, it was the size of -- you, probably, just a little bulkier, and it had this habit of disappearing in front of you and reappearing behind you so it could yowl. So yeah."

"Did anyone see it?"

Did you have to flashy thing New York, Nita?

She laughs. "Yeah, there were a few witnesses, but most people seem to have convinced themselves it was a dog somebody painted green for Christmas."

Coyote shakes her head. "Because of course that is nothing to worry about."

Seriously?

"The ASPCA probably got some strange calls."

"They are probably used to it."

Coyote tilts her head at Nita, gauging her mood.

"So. Did you do your homework?"

Is this a good time to ask about it?

Nita blinks at her, confused for a moment -- then blushes.

"Yeah."

Coyote grins. It's only a little evil. Mostly gleeful.

"You do not have to tell me who. Just what you noticed."

"Coyote," she protests.

"Oh come on, who am I going to tell?"

She's dying for some good gossip!

"You'll probably try to set me up with someone."

Coyote looks thwarted, then innocently offended. She's talented like that.

"I will not, if you make me promise not to."

Maybe.

"Please don't set me up with anyone."

She sounds like she means it.

"Oh, fine, fine." She wasn't really going to, after that conversation.

"Just tell me a little. I will tell no one." That's her more serious voice, now. Forget the gossip, she just wants to know if her advice is actually working.

Nita groans, facepalming, but she's a little more relaxed now.

"I didn't come up with any patterns. I don't know. I like guys with good hands?"

"Good choice," Coyote says, grin returning. "Hands are very important, after all." She tilts her head, thinking.

"I would agree with you. So do I."

That gets a grin out of her.

"It's -- I don't know. I'm trying not to overthink it." She sips her cocoa. "I'm also pretty sure I'm not interested in blonds?"

Coyote nods attentively. "Dark and handsome with good hands?"

Have we mentioned Nita blushes easily?

She sighs. Ah, young ~~love~~ crushes on attractive people.

"And you are sure I cannot set you up with anyone." It isn't really a question, just regret for the amazing things that could have been.

She quirks a smile. "No. Thank you."

More seriously, she adds, "I appreciate the sentiment, just . . . my head's kind of fucked up, still. Not as badly as it was, I think, but -- I still need to figure it out. So as totally embarrassing as it is," she concludes with a put-upon sigh, "I'll keep taking notes."

"I am pleased that it is working out for you," Coyote says with a smile. She really is!

Nita makes a face at her.

"It is, for the record, totally weird. I wrote down some friends."
