With his meal, today Teja gets a strangely shaped piece of pastry.

Inside, there is a message.

OLD FRIENDS MAKE BEST FRIENDS.

Teja now sits by the fireplace, pondering how very true that is.

He should go to his people again, soon, and try to find Adalgoth awake. And speak with him.

Bonzo steps over to where Teja is sitting. He can tell that Teja's mood is somewhat brooding (which is normal), but one can safely assume that he is perhaps a hair more cautious depending on how broody Teja seems.

Which for now is "quite".

Teja looks up when he notices his sometime forge helper, and nods at him in greeting.

"How are you doing?" He omits what would probably have been 'sir' a while before. The fact that Teja seems to be brooding means nothing, of course: He always seems brooding.

"Times are interesting," Teja says, wondering whether the dropped honorific is a sign for lessened respect, or grown familiarity.

It's...most assuredly not lessened respect, and if he's confronted on the issue, Bonzo will be quite embarrassed at a protocol.

"Oh? May I ask what is so interesting?"

He's curious, but he also knows how private Teja can be.

Teja hands him the little piece of paper.

Bonzo looks at the paper and nods. "Very true."

"It is," Teja says.

Long pause.

"I went to see my people."

"How are they?"

Beat, as Bonzo remembers that Teja is...well, dead.

"And...how did you manage that?"

"There was a goddess who broke something on her computer, and Sameth and I mended it," Teja says. "She gave Sameth an important prophesy, and me, the key back to my world."

Blink.

"A goddess...broke...something...on her...computer?" Bonzo is surprised...even in Milliways, there are some things that boggle the mind.

"Yes," Teja says. "The lid, which contained the screen, was almost off."

A goddess with monitor problems. Who knew?

"Just a normal computer, then?" Bonzo throws this assumption out there.

Carlotta flops down nearby.

"Hallo, your Highness."

Teja looks up.

"Carlotta!" he says. "It is good to see you."

"You too." Carlotta says.

"I... um... I appear to have injured one of the evacuees."

"Indeed?" Teja says. "What happened to her?"

"After all that effort getting Amelia to actually ride a horse, she went and did the one thing I told her not to do." Carlotta says, with a sigh. "She stood up. Like I do. I told her to get down, but Arabella screamed and the horse took fright."

"You did not hurt her," Teja agrees. "She disobeyed, and promptly reaped the reward. Get her back on as soon as possible. What did she break?"

"Arm." Carlotta says. "But I was looking at Arabella, not watching her. She's only six."

She sighs. "Arabella wanted them both home, but when we phoned the mother, she wanted them to stay here. Because... well, their home has been bombed, and the girls don't know yet. We telephoned her at their grandma's house because their mum works now."

"That war is hard on all," Teja says, "but hardest on those that do not fight, it seems. Are the enemies at the gates of your cities yet?"

"No, it comes from the sky. Aeroplanes. That's why they evacuated the children from the cities."

"That is horrifying," Teja says. "But if a thing is possible, it will be done in warfare."

Carlotta nods.

"Over across the channel, our troops prepare to do the same. Onto innocent civilians. It is a terrible thing."

"And it shall not stop before all utterly exhausted, and the main cities of your lands are diminished beyond imagination," Teja says. "I remember reading about great destruction. Keep away from a place named Coventry."
