For Antony, it hasn't been hardly any time at all, though for Milliways it has been three years since he has come in from this particular point in his timeline--during Caesar's civil war, remaining behind to command the troops in Italy while Caesar pursues Pompey's legions elsewhere.
In any event, it is a well-rested but restless Roman general who strides into the bar this evening, in his finest leather armor. He doesn't like being left behind while Caesar goes off to fight. He's a soldier, not a statesman--but if he can't fight, he can at least keep in practice with his drinking and carousing.
Totally botherable. In a reasonably good mood, even.

Also courage and charm. He's been getting by on those for a very long time, and the gods (or at least the goddesses) he has met here seem duly impressed.

Sometimes he likes to play a little game in his head, guessing where unfamiliar people are from. Most often, it seems, the answer is either Britain or somewhere far across the sea. Even style of clothing doesn't help him much with guessing.

"Evening, citizen," he says, and picks a cup of wine off the bar.

Sure they've never met before, but that hasn't stopped Axel yet.

Friendliness from strangers may make him a little wary back home--especially with a civil war going on; a friendly greeting sometimes hides a dagger--but here, there's no need to worry.
"Greetings, citizen," he says with a smile and a nod.

"Citizen? Been a long time since I've been a citizen of anywhere," he replies.

There may be other categories, but those are the only ones he knows, besides slave. And this man doesn't seem like a slave.

He's not bitter about his situation. A little annoyed, maybe, but Caesar has his reasons, he's sure.

...though the rules and Security don't hurt.

The bullets are blanks, but that's not the point. All she's really doing is taking it apart and cleaning it. The movements are precise but don't require much thought, and it would suck if she fell out of knowing how to take care of fire arms just because she's stuck here.
A female soldier with a firearm-the epitamy of what could either be a guy's dream or nightmare.

He can respect that, and so he raises his cup of wine by way of salute.

She doesn't have a drink with her, but seeing the roman soldier (and she thought Marguerite was from an early time) raise his cup to her, she sets the rag down and gives him a small salute.
Military protocal sticks after all. While she's familiar with Roman warfare and stradgy, she's not all that familar on their markings of rank and if he happened to be an officer-odds are he outranked her: 1st lieutenant may be an officer rank, but it was still a fairly low one.

He gets himself a pear to go with the wine, and strolls on over to get a better look at what she's doing.
"Tending your weapon, soldier?"

She stood up at attention: he may've not been from her country or time period, but he was from Earthrealm and the US Military did take inspiration from their tactics, besides it did feel good to fall back into habit.
"Lieutenant Sonya Blade, United States Army Special Forces."

He actually tends to train harder here than he does at home, probably because here he doesn't actually go to war. There are no other outlets for him.
"Mark Antony, general, and tribune of the people of Rome. A pleasure to meet you."

"Most warring from my time is done at a distance, but most if not all servicemen are taught how to fight just incase."
Actually, she did miss having a sparring partner. Training was all well and good, but not actually sparring with someone made her still feel out of practice.
