IT had been some time since Artemus found himself coming into Milliways, let alone from on board the Inyo, so he stumbles from the abrupt change in momentum. As he stumbles, he catches a gun-shaped flash of gold from the corner of his eye and so he turns his stumble into a dive and lands behind a booth. From there, he pokes his head up carefully to assess the situation. He hasn't draw his gun yet but he's ready.

Didn't this place have rules against gunfights?

"Whoa!"

That would be the fellow whose booth Artemus wound up behind. Arcade wasn't expecting to almost get jumped.

"You okay down there?"

Artemus nods and says, "Yeah, sorry. I thought I saw someone taking a shot at me." It could be worth noting that Artemus is wearing a suit with a very western cut with a nice pair of cowboy boots to complete the ensemble. All that's missing is the hat which happens to be over there by the front door.

"Ah. An understandable reaction, then," says Arcade. "I don't think they actually do that much here, although I saw a child running around with a toy gun a while ago. Didn't look like anything genuinely dangerous."

Gold plating looks pretty, but doesn't get you far in the Mojave.

"Do you mind if I ask where you're in from? Your suit reminds me of some of the people I see passing through my part of Nevada."

"I travel all around the territories of the United States actually. I'm Artemus Gordon, from 1871. How about yourself?"

"Arcade Gannon. 2281," says Arcade, eyebrows raised. "Interesting. I know they say there's nothing new under the sun, but I didn't expect it to be quite that apparent."

Arty nods his own wonder. "I've met people from what could by my future before but not that far out. You live in Nevada you say?"

"In an area that probably wasn't especially settled in your day, except possibly as a railroad depot," Arcade says. "It's a city in the Mojave Desert called New Vegas, formerly Las Vegas. The nearest landmark I can think of that you'd know for sure is the Colorado River, about twenty or thirty miles to the east."

"I believe I've been there yes," he replies. "Something involving an earthquake machine maybe, or was that the steam powered men?"

"As for that I couldn't tell you," Arcade says. "I've heard a number of rumors about some of the old world technology that might've been lost somewhere in the desert, but I don't get out enough to look for it. Unless by steam powered men you're referring to some of the robots that police the wealthier part of town, anyway."
