Kyo is not pleased with all this Mardis Gras non-sense. He's been given a mask, in the shape of half a cat's face, made out of sparkly, orange sequins. He's wearing an equally flamboyant shirt, in an unmanly shade of purple, and jeans that are the proper size, and therefor tighter than he likes.

He sulks a lot, but anytime he takes the mask off, it comes back on, through one circumstance or another. It has left him with a lot of irritation, and nothing to really do with it.

So he goes to sulk by the fire.

"I suppose it wouldn't help to say that it could be worse?" asks the not'cat dressed as Baron Samedi, painted like a skeleton, complete with black tuxedo and top hat.

(ooc: Must ask for immediate slowtime, but will be around tomorrow evening.)

The skeleton face is a little freaky. Though it actually makes Yrael a little less scary looking. It's probably the proper black clothing, far different from the mourning whites Kyo is used to and abhors.

"Yeah, I guess so, huh. What are you supposed to be?"

(Anything for you, hun! I should be around too.)

"Apparently a spirit related to death, rebirth, and rum - I'm not too clear on the details," he shrugs, settling beside Kyo on the couch.

"Rum? That's weird." He makes a small face. "I don't remember this place doing this stuff to me before."

"Perhaps you were just lucky to miss the holidays when it would have," Yrael says, bumping his tuxedo'd shoulder against Kyo's.

"There are only a few, really. Mardi Gras, which is... this. In some cities on Earth, it is a carnival-like celebration, with parades, costumes, music, good food, drink and company, &c. &c."

"April Fools' Day, which... some of the costumes or changes are a bit less innocuous than these."

"And Halloween."

Kyo bumps his shoulder against Yrael's in turn. "So it dresses us up as stuff without our permission?"

"I believe it's trying to make sure we get into the spirit of things," he says, dry as a dry thing.

"Is the spirit wanting to kick someone's butt?" Because that's his reaction.

"I feel that the spirit moves different people in different ways," he grins.

"You could try me, of course, though I admit to not having kept up with practice."

Kyo nods. "Alright, let's do it!"

Anything to take his mind off his outfit.

Yrael stands, grinning.

"I'll trust you not to go easy on me."

Kyo snorted. "I'm not dumb. You're like some kind of crazy sorcerer or something. I don't think I could really hurt you."

"Neither crazy nor a sorcerer, thanks. I am just myself," Yrael says with a wry grin as they head outside.

And while it's true that Kyo would have a very difficult time hurting Yrael physically, it is not true in other respects.

The only change to Demeter's outfit is that her normal dress is of a shiny green instead of her normal linen and she grins at the poor boy,

"You look rather handsome."

Kyo looks around, wondering who the old lady is talking to. Unless she's got a thing for rats, he doesn't see anyone else.

"Huh? You talking to me?"

"Yes, dear, the purple's rather bright, but the shirt and pants are cut well. Maybe you could ask for one in green, that would probably compliment your hair better."
