"Grrf...nnnf...darnit!"
...You know how some things seem like a really good idea in theory? Like reading a book on escaping from ropes.
Except when the decision to try it without any supervision or aid comes in. Tyler had tied his feet first to the sturdy branch of the treefort, good sturdy rope too. Then came tying up his knees and arms with a bunch of knots, and tying them up tight before trying to wriggle out of them..
"Come on..come o- oh nonono- AWP!"
...until he fell off the branch, feet still attached.
Ah... a little help here?
(Y'all are awesome but thanks to weather I've got to break for a bit, mun'll be back in an hour.
seriously. snow. sick of it.) back!

A stiff winter's breeze
Snaps teeth sharply at all things
Spring tarries behind
He shakes his head, displeased with his attempt.
The sun shines warm gold,
But the air pays no heed.
No, he stops himself short, that won't do either. Then something up ahead catches his eye.
"By his feet he swings
A young man caught in a snare
How did he get here?"
That'll do for now.

And the vision of the upside-down rat in a kimono walking on the grass towards him passes by several times before he can come up with a response.
"Boy caught by own work,
tried to learn rope escape art,
On his own, help please?"
no subject
"Hmmm. Interesting. Does the boy know how to tuck and roll?" he asks while reaching a hand up one of the sleeves of his kimono to fetch one of the throwing knives stored there.
no subject
"...what're you doing?"
no subject
Tyler didn't expect the old rat to climb up to the tree house, did he? Or maybe attempt to break his fall with his own body? He is mighty, sure. But he's not invulnerable!
"On three..."

"Oh, do you need some help?"

Tyler swings a couple more times before twisting to look down/up at Sameth, looking plainly embarassed.
"...yes."
no subject
"Let me get something to cut you down. I'll be right back."

Good thing he decided to come outside. He was on his way to the treefort but spotted someone hanging from the tree first. He quickened his pace and pulled his sunglasses up on his head.
"Tyler? What happened?" he asks before he starts making his way up to help.

He makes his way up to the branch where the rope is and starts to carefully pull Tyler up. Good thing he's got some muscle.
"You shoulda at least started on the ground instead of up inna tree."
no subject
That...might take a little longer, considering he did some VERY good knots.
no subject
His sunglasses occasionally slide down over his eyes and he eventually holds onto them in his mouth.
"Could've broken your neck, for goodness sake," he mutters around the sunglasses as he works at the tough knots.
Progress is being made, though. The ropes are starting to get looser.

"What, exactly, are you doing?"
no subject
"Then I kinda fell out."
no subject
"Should I cut you down, then, or have you got an escape plan?"
It's possible. She kind of doubts it, but it's possible.
no subject
Because ahaha, seriously, getting cut down out of the tree means dropping and today he isn't wearing his helmet.
no subject
She gives him a look that's not entirely condescending, you-may-be-an-idiot-but-so-far-you're-not-an-irritating-one, and says "Okay."
She carefully rolls up her right sleeve with her gloved left hand and concentrates. Her right arm starts to turn into metal, though it waits until where her hand was to narrow into a small, sharp blade. She glances back to him, to figure out where she should cut. And to discern his reaction, though she's a little more confident about it these days.
"How far apart can you pull them?"

However-
He muffles a cough, and heads over to the tree from the path.
"Are you alright?"
no subject
There's some more wriggling and grunting trying to get at least one of his hands free to undo the knots...but that just makes him swing and spin back and forth.
"...or not okay."
no subject
Thankfully, in spite of everything that happened to Wellard on board the Renown, he has an excellent head for heights. A few moments later, he is on the tree branch, eying the knot of rope as well as the hanging Tyler.
"Well, then."
no subject
And Wellard may not have seen so many well-done knots before, or at least none as odd as these. Give a 10 year old enough rope and creativity and he'll do some odd things.
no subject
"I don't think I can get through these before all the blood rushes to your head. I'll see if I can get you back up here, first?"
