Things are still not OK at home. No sign of J'Onn, no word on Locus, and all the supervillains in the world arne't enough distraction from the gapping hole left by the fifth member of the team.

So please forgive Dinah if she hides from the world in the bar, working the garden as a more effective distraction and - as now, arranging the early spring flowers for centrepieces in the bar proper.

When every table has flowers, she'll worry about her life. For now, she's just put a flower on your table.

There's one table which is deserted at the moment. It has a half-empty and very large mug of coffee, a book on clicker-training dogs and a plate of spicy date-and-nut cookies.

Oh, and a white-and-brown dog lying under the table, looking up at her.

That is an adorable dog. Dinah grins at it and leans over to scratch the top of its head when she's deposited the flower.

...then she eats a cookie.

"Are they any good?" a familiar voice asks her from behind and above.

Dinah shakes her head when she turns around, face very serious.

"No, they're awful. I wouldn't have any if I were you. It's for the best."

"I am shocked," Urquhart says, his face at least as serious as hers. "And deeply hurt. I baked them myself!"

Beat.

Then, he grins. "By the way, meet Franz!"

"He's yours?"

Dinah grins again and drops to a crouch to properly give Franz the atteniton he deserves. "Hi Franz!"

Franz thumps the floor with his tail, then turns over to offer his belly for rubbing.

"Alfred brought him in from his world," Urquhart says. "I'm sort of keeping him for him, as he claims he can't have a dog wandering around as he does."

Sharing the ownership of a dog probably infers more of a commitment than they have.

Or at least, than they'd ever admit to.

Dinah looks up from her rubbing just long enough to give him a look that implies she's reading into it rather more than they'd admit to.

"Where did Alfred get him from?"

"The dog followed him in, from some village," Urquhart says. "You know how they sometimes instantly fall in love with people, or decide to walk out on their people? Franz did that. And then, happily attached himself to me, even though he still loves Alfred to bits."

The dog does. Urquhart, of course, doesn't get infected with that kind of feelings.

Of course.

Still, it's not the most perfect of stories. "Won't his people miss him?"

"They probably will," Urquhart says. "He's a very nice dog, kept and trained well. But he probably had a reason to like Alfred better and insist on coming along."

Dinah sighs, and shakes her head, rubbing Franz' stomach again.

She senses that a lecture on the merits of stealing dogs would fall on deaf ears right now, and it's hardly Franz' fault.

Moist would of course be quite capable of stealing a dog for Urquhart and then disguising his gift with a complicated story.

He'd even be capable of buying a dog for Urquhart and then disguising his gift with a complicated story that makes people suspect he'd stolen it.

"He's a very intelligent and willing dog," Urquhart says, proudly.

Demeter is looking through a seed catalog and smiles when Dinah sets the flower down,

"Hello. What a beautiful idea."

"Hi, Demeter."

Dinah gives the goddess an extra wide grin and offers her her pick of the rest of the flowers on her tray.

"Thanks. I love bringing spring inside."

"Its wonderful and I'm glad to see it. Soon my daughter will return,"

She picks up a lovely bouquet and beams.

"Do you know when, exactly?"

Dinah's really not very well versed in Greek mythology, for a woman who was taught Pankration by Hercules, anyway.

"On the Equinox, nine days and she'll be home."

"Great!" says Dinah. She places the tray of flowers on the table and soon sits down by it, willing to give up her task for conversation. "Not long at all then. I bet you're looking forward to it."

"I am, I try to keep busy so I don't get too impatient. Do you need any help in the garden?"

"I always need help in the garden," Dinah says cheerfully, though she does so with a suspicious look. "Would it be god like help?"

She's not sure if she wants that.

"Only if you wish it to be. I'm happy to do whatever you need me to."

"I could do with someone who know what they're doing to check up on the days I can't make it into the bar," Dinah says. "The perennials are emerging and they need dividing and replanting as they show up."
