Happy Hour

There's nothing special happening tonight: people are drinking, eating socializing, and of course, there's a bar-person tending the Bar while Bar has her beauty sleep.

Said bar-person is a very pale girl in black clothes of goth-like flair, drinking from a steaming mug of something a drink with a citrus-y scent. Her eyes scan the crowd, meeting the patron's as they approach to order.

SPECIALS

- Tequila.

The Bargirl is a vampire and will pay your drinks in exchange for a drink.



Candid, hm? She decided to try the direct approach...

Black clothing and goth-like flair? KK's got that covered. She reads the specials board as she slides onto a bar stool. When she gets to the part about the tender being a vampire, she pauses and looks at the person in question.

"A vampire? Seriously?"

She's still relatively new to Milliways.

The fledgling nods, offering a shadow of smile. "Serious like death." That might be a joke of some kind.

"So...you're saying that if I give you some of my blood, you'll give me free drinks? How does that work, exactly?"

There are so many different vampire lore stories, and before she'd come here, she never would have believed any of them to be true. Still, the rules one world might have could be useless in another. Best to get clarification before she even considers what could happen.

[hoopsonfire]

"Hm. I can bite... and drink. And close the bite after." The vampire nods. "But the feeling is very... intense."

[steamgenius]

"For you or for me?"

She's no fool, after all.

"And no harm comes to the person you drink from?"

[hoopsonfire]

"For both." Very much intense. "No. Being drank from will not change and will not turn you."

"Turning... is more... complicated."

[steamgenius]

"And you can't drink blood from a glass?"

KK's not sure she likes this idea, but is willing to consider it.

[hoopsonfire]

"I can. If you prefer to cut yourself and bleed into a glass and carry the cut around until it goes away on its own." The vampire leans to the counter. "I can heal only the holes I make."

"Or." And then she grins. "You can drink on your dime, not mine."

[steamgenius]

"Hmmm."

She gives it some thought and shakes her head.

"On my own dime, I reckon. I'm not so sure about the biting thing, and I can't afford to go around cutting myself just for free drinks. Rum, please."

[hoopsonfire]

She nods, picking a bottle a pouring a double golden rum for KK. "Didn't think you would." Really.

"Every night the doctor is proven wrong."

"What doctor?"

She sips the rum with satisfaction. That swill she's been finding in her usual nighttime haunts is going to kill her one of these days.

[hoopsonfire]

"The one who's nicest." She pauses a moment, sorting through the jumble of her fractured mind. "Guppy."

"He said I'd find lots of people willing to feed me."

[steamgenius]

"A fish doctor told you that? And you believed him?"

And people say she's crazy!

"Sorry. if you could close the would after I made a cut, I'd give you a glassful, but I can't work while I'm injured."

KK's blood probably isn't all that nutritious, anyway.

"Haven't seen you in a while," Urquhart says, coming up to the bar.

[hoopsonfire]

"Been not here overmuch. Shadows and pestilence, darkness abounds." She finishes the blood substitute concoction, and puts the mug away. "How paths wind about you?"

"Interesting paths, with a dog," Urquhart says. "What pestilence, though?"

[hoopsonfire]

"Someone spreads sickness in the city of angels. The Ivory Tower wishes I'd find the source. The Rabble too." Ah, the normal solution for all of California Kindred's problems: send in the new blood.

"Sickness," Urquhart says. "How would you look for a source of that?"

[hoopsonfire]

"Someone is spreading it." She nods. "On purpose."

[scots_wolf]

"What does the sickness do to the people that have it?" Urquhart asks.

[hoopsonfire]

"Fever, cough, shakes, death. Attracts mortal authorities, and the kindred can not feed." And that is problematic. "Don't feel safe feeding there."

[scots_wolf]

"And that affects mortals, not your kind?" Urquhart asks.

[hoopsonfire]

"I don't know." She leans to the counter. "They say kindred don't get sick. But we can carry diseases from moral to mortal."

...she's talking making sense... "CDC is on the city, putting up quarantine, too much Law around. Strauss thinks the Anarchs are spreading it, feeding sloppily. The Anarchs think the Camarilla is doing it to get them in trouble."

"Going looking for people who got sick first. See where they went, with whom..."

"But aren't they all dead?" Urquhart asks.

"The shade of oblivion visits not all at the same time. Some carry the pestilence far, others stumble sooner." And, it's gone. "Death, death, the rod of Asclepius kept thee away, but threatens to knock off the masks of tragedy."
