There's a boy outside as well, working out in the garden.

It's just about time for him to take a break and the tree Ako's under looks pretty nice and shady. It also looks like she has nothing to drink while he has plenty to share. And who wouldn't like some company on such a nice spring day?

Well, she might not since she's reading a book. Lucas seems to remember his mom telling him it's not polite to bother someone while they're reading. Or was she reminding Claus when he was reading the comic books he borrowed from the bar?

But he decides he won't know unless he asks, so he takes off his gardening gloves, grabs his lunch, and heads over.

"Hi," he says. "Whacha readin'?"

"Oh, um, hello!" says Ako, "It's a book of stories about who some people thought the world went together. Or worlds I guess. It's kind of confusing."

Also kinda gross.

OOC: Sorry for the delay and I will be migrating between computers for the next little bit. Also, across the city.

"Really?"

That's a new one for him.

"I don't think I've heard of those."

"There are a lot of giants and places seem to be either really really hot or really really cold," offers Ako.

"Would you like to sit? My name is Ako."

"I never would've guessed that sort of thing."

He might want to take a look at that book, too.

"Oh sure. And my name's Lucas."

He takes a seat and opens his lunch bag, which has a couple of bottles of water along with a bento, one like he had before with the omelets and sunflowers.

"I dunno how long you'd been out here but I've been out here working, so I've got some extra water if you want some."

A bento is a sensible and excellent choice for hauling around a meal.

"Water would be great actually," says Ako, "Would you like an apple or something? I have some fruit and I keep getting distracted by the book so I haven't been eating it."

Maybe there's a version that glosses over the part where the sky is supposed to be made out of a skull and the clouds are the guy's brains thrown really high.

"That does sound good," he says, handing her a bottle of water.

He opens up his bento and takes out one of his ketchup omelet rice balls to eat. The bento is placed between, where Ako can see that Lucas's omelet has been made into sunflower petals.

"I don't think we got a lot of stories at home," he says between bites. "Not about giants, anyway. Grandpa did tell me stories about Magypsies, though. I even met one once."

That's more work than she usually sees in a boys bento. As much as she sees them anyway.

"Magypsies?"

He got it from Bar. >.>

"Yeah. They look kind of like humans but they're not men or women. They seem to like wearing dresses, though."

Despite the 5 o'clock shadows.

"They can use PSI and help others learn how to use it, too. That's what Ionia did when I met her, anyway."

Figures. Bar-san does some of the best cooking.

"I don't think we have anything like that," says Ako, "Or anyone really. Anyone with powers at home are just doing tricks - slight of hand and things like that. But I think it's traditional that the mysterious teacher types all wear flowing clothes."

"So the mysterious teacher ones do the sleight of hand?" he asks. "What else do they do?"

Sleight of hand does not a mysterious person make. Or something like that.

Also, with Ako talking about her world, Lucas can both listen politely AND eat!

"Sometimes they'll talk about believing in yourself," she says, "I'm mostly in the background when that sorts of things happen though."

"Believing in yourself?"

As someone who doesn't have a lot of that, he wouldn't mind learning more.
