Not So Happy Immortal

Amanda walks into bar a bit singed and not looking very happy, in fact it takes a few moments before she realizes where she is. A small smile crosses her face though mostly she still looks angry. With a sigh she sits down and orders a glass of wine, "Un verre de vin rouge, s'il vous plait"

When one appears she starts to sip it slowly.

"Hey Amanda, you all right?" Guppy asks.

Amanda looks up and can't manage a smile, "That vile Kit burnt the 'Queen of Spades' to the ground."

[guppy_sandhu]

"Oh Amanda, I'm sorry." Guppy gives her a hug. "Was anyone hurt?"

[OOC: am watching new Dr. Who, will be slow]

Amanda accepts his hug, "No, it was after hours." then she curses in a few languages.

[guppy_sandhu]

"What does that mean?" Alex asks, appearing behind her and looking up at her.

"Don't worry about it Fry, grown up talk." Guppy says.

Amanda looks down at Fry, "Good Evening, How is your sister?" and she is now glad she didn't curse in english.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Coral appears to be developing normally." Fry says, in an accent that suggests it's a quote.

"Do you want a drink Amanda?" Guppy asks.

[immortalthief]

"Where did you hear that?" she asks Fry almost cheering up.

"I've got one thank you" she says as kindly as she can manage. Thinking it's best not to drink too much right now.

"We caught up at the premature baby outpatient clinic today." Guppy says.

"The doctor was rude to me." Fry says, pouting. "He said I had behaving problems."

"That's because you hit him in the face when he tried to listen to your chest, which was a very naughty thing to do." Guppy says.

Amanda tries not to laugh which is easier than usual.

"Why did you hit him she wonders?" not judging just curious.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Because I don't like to be touched and I told him and he did it anyway." Fry says.

"Yeah, he wanted me to hold Fry still while they did it... they weren't very good actually, I'm thinking about writing in." Guppy says, running a hand through his hair.

"I asked them to put the appointments together, but they booked them with different doctors so we had an hour between them. The waiting room was very crowded and noisy and I asked if we could possibly wait somewhere quieter, which they refused even though I could see there were empty rooms. They said if I took them out and came back we'd be registered as having left. After about half an hour Fry got in a fight with another kid who kept pulling his hair, and by the time he was meant to be seen I had to coax him out from under a table. Being examined was the last straw."

Amanda listens and then wonders, "What is wrong with that place?" she is now more irritated, "Really, why don't they listen?" she sighs, "I suppose that it isn't going to get any better." she turns to Fry and Guppy, "Why were you there in the first place?"

[guppy_sandhu]

"Well because they were both premature, they like to check up on them." Guppy says. "And Coral has to have her vision checked. She wears contact lenses at the moment."

[immortalthief]

"Yes, i suppose it's for the best." though she still doesn't like the sound of it.

"Contact lenses?" She hasn't come across those yet.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Like glasses, but they go in your eyes. She'll have glasses when she's a bit bigger." Guppy says. "She can't see very far without them."

"I see." and at that moment a contact case appeared on the bar. Amanda picked the case up and of course opened it.

A strange smelling liquid inside.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Yes, like those, only specially for babies." Guppy says.

"Mummy puts them on Coral's eyes." Fry says.

Amanda examines them, they look like cat eyes.

"How does she do that?" she tries to pick one up.

[guppy_sandhu]

"With difficulty." Guppy says. "I think you've got novelty contacts there, Amanda."

"Coral is very wiggly." Fry says.

[immortalthief]

Amanda looks over at him, "I'll bet." she puts them down to play with later.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Coral can walk now." Fry says.

"Yeah, she's getting good." Guppy says. "Zooming around before we know."

[immortalthief]

"And then you will spending most of your time trying to keep up with her." Amanda cracks a small smile.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Yep, they'll be racing off in opposite directions I expect." Guppy says.

[immortalthief]

"It will be a sight to see, and at least around here you will likely have help."

[guppy_sandhu]

"Yep." Guppy nods. "I'll be glad of a few extra pairs of hands too. Little kids can be very squirmy."

[immortalthief]

"Yes, but I some consider that part of their charm."

[guppy_sandhu]

Guppy laughs. "Yeah. I'm sure I'll miss the chases when they're older. Though less the attempts at nudity."

[seat_five_girl]

Ooh French! Ako is learning that, a little anyway.

"Rouge is red, right?"

In on my iPod during lunch for a placeholder.

Amanda nods and answers, "That is correct." as she turns to the girl.

[seat_five_girl]

"I'm glad I got that much right," says Ako, "I've been trying to learn French, but my vocabulary is still really small."

[immortalthief]

"Il prend juste la pratique" she offers (It just takes practice)

[seat_five_girl]

"...I didn't get any of that," mopes Ako.

[immortalthief]

"I said 'It just takes practive'" she offers

[seat_five_girl]

"Yeah, I guess," agrees Ako, "The translation thing makes it harder to practice, but I'm trying to learn so I can visit more places with friends. Not everywhere speaks Japanese or English."

[immortalthief]

"No, they don't." she offers, "If you would like some help I would be willing, at least when I am around." which she doesn't always control.

[seat_five_girl]

"That would be nice," says Ako with a small smile, "My name is Izumi Ako. Please call me Ako, sensei."

"Nice to meet you Ako, call me Amanda"
