It's spring...

Which means there's weather clear enough and warm enough to warrant somebody heading outside with a practice drone and...well three different swords.

Tyler's somehow collected a lot of swords here in his time, and he's realized that he only knows how to wield two out of the three effectively. He figures he'll do the warm up with the wooden chinese sword first, then work out with the light saber and training drone, and finish up and cool off with practice katas from the first set Ray taught him with the new sword.

He's not that adverse to some company today.

It hasn't been one of those days, for once.

Always a good thing. Especially from the point of view of someone who has one of those lives.

The glowing sword's kind of an interesting option. Ellen's got a sword that kind of does that, but it's metal and there's butane involved.

He's really best at using the light saber. If if anything, he's gotten very good at ducking or avoiding shots and some of them even get deflected back towards the drone firing at him at one point.

The Locker Monster Has Way Too Much Freetime is the one he's practicing with today. When that runs out, he's going to pick up the drone and wave to Ellen.

Ellen smiles and waves back. "Hi, Tyler," she says. "That's an impressive sword you have there. And a nice little robot, too."

"The robot belongs to Uncle Ray..he lets me borrow it so I can practice with the light sabre on different settings." Tyler grins, turning the light sabre off and tucking it under one arm so he can fiddle with the controls. "The light sabre is only a training one though, it can't cut anything. Just scorchs and stings when it hits."

"How does it work?" Ellen says. "The sabre, I mean. All the energy weapons I know either fire beams or plasma bolts- they don't have standing blades like that."

"It's a self-terminating cutting laser beam, and I don't know much more than that, except it takes a lot of skill to build one from scratch, and it can blow up if the focusing crystal for the beam isn't perfectly formed."

"Huh," says Ellen. "Probably not something we'd have the ability to replicate, then... although I might mention it to some of the scribes in the Order of the Sword when I get back home. It'd probably be more useful than my Shishkebab, anyway."

"...yeah no. I don't think they're going to be able to make it in your world." Tyler makes a face, focusing on setting up the drone for the next set of exercises. "It took Uncle Ray the better part of a year to grow the crystals from the first molecular layer and upwards....if it's not perfect the power source and crystal tend to explode."

"Gonna set this one to 'Revoking Kneecap Privileges, Ellen, you're going to want to stay about 15 feet back so it doesn't include you, kay?"

"Definitely outside our abilities, then," Ellen says, and backs up several steps. "How's this?"

"That oughta be just perfect, thanks!" With that, he's tossing the drone into the air and flicking on the sabre again.

If it looks like he's getting just a little whupped, the drone is on the high speed setting of 'oh god who gave him espresso??', so Tyler is only blocking about 2 out of five shots. The third ones he manages to get out of the way of, but that still leaves 2 more that occaissionally get him in the shins.

There is a quiet drow making his way on over in casual clothing. The sunlight is bright enough to make him squint just the slightest bit, even though he's gotten more used to light by now.

By now, Tyler's finished up his work with the chinese broadsword and the lightsaber, and is starting in with the 100-leather-layer laquer wakizashi. The katas might be familiar, though the stance is a little off from when Zak last saw him practicing.

Zaknafein isn't going to interrupt his friend while he's practicing, but he's watching as Tyler gets used to the weight and balance of his new blade.

"Hello, Tyler."

"Hi Zak," Tyler replies, a short break before he goes into the next set again. "I'll talk inna sec, wanna finish up."

"Alright." Zak says, smiling slightly. "I'm glad to see you like the blade."

"It's different..." And truthfully it feels a little different to use, with the sharp edge being only on one side. When he finishes up that last set, Tyler picks up the other two blades laying on his jacket and snaps the light sabre back onto his belt loop.

"How've you been? I haven't seen you in a while..."

"It's been rather hectic." Zaknafein admitted, embarrassed. "I've been getting used to the balance of this body. And dealing with some other things. How have you been?"

"...Life as usual." Tyler replies. "Almost got eaten by a dragon."

Bonzo steps outside and catches Tyler practicing out of the corner of his eye as he's headed to the Forge. Stepping over to say 'hi', he makes sure to give him a bit of room...just in case the training drone is live. He does not want to have to try and dodge a blaster bolt from it...that won't end well.
