Happy Hour

Will's feeling sore when he enters the Bar today. The Sheriff's reaction to having Little John rescued from under his feet was to raise the bounty on them and start calling in favors from neighboring nobles. In the last few weeks, they've been trying to keep track of who messengers have been sent to and who is arriving.

Finding Milliways is a welcome relief and he grins when he's asked to bartend and pours himself a drink of dark, spiced rum as he considers the specials. His sword is tucked out of sight and he's wearing the simple Lincoln green that proclaims him one of Robin Hood's men.

He's not the only one in green tonight. Although to be perfectly fair, Fawkes is wearing blue; he just happens to be green. And a good eight or nine feet tall, albeit stooped over so as not to show it so much.

The big, hairless, over-muscled fellow squints up at the specials board for a while. Eventually he looks down to the bartender and says, in a voice that sounds like he ought to be screening calls in Hell, "It would be fair to say very nearly any sort of decent foodstuff, other than the packed goods and fresh kills my friend and I have been using as our travel supplies."

Will looks up before nodding to Fawkes, who seems like he wouldn't be out of place in Atton's world or Kate's,

"Oh aye, what makes it so 'ard to find fresh food in yer world?"

The hammer almost slips by his notice as he's greeting Fawkes but its a weapon that looks like few men can wield it.

"Most of what I've seen so far is desert, or the ruins of cities," says Fawkes. "But it's more a matter of my having spent most of my life confined to an underground chamber. My experiences were... limited."

Will raises an eyebrow but doesn't comment on that, he can't imagine not seeing the sky,

"Aye, what can I get ye?"

"What do you recommend?" Fawkes inquires. "I find I get more interesting options that way."

[md_donighal]

"I never would've discovered Ogden's Old Firewhisky if not for this place," says the man in the gray suit, "so I assume that counts. Tonight, though, I think I'll have a Sweet Fire."

[will_scarlett]

"Aye, it does. Know o'Ogden's, tis from the wizardin' world,"

He sets to making the drink, all the ones he chose are fairly simple to make.

"Interesting. Do you happen to know Rubeus Hagrid? He was the one introduced me to it, as I recall. I'm Michael, by the way. Michael Donighal." He holds out a hand for shaking.

"Nay, dinna believe I've e'er met 'im though I've met many from that world. Will Scarlett,"

Once Will's mixed the drink, he shakes Michael's hand.

"Your loss. He's got a heart as big as all outdoors and a body nearly large enough to contain it." He blinks at the bartender's self-identification. "Will Scarlett? Do many people ask you what Robin Hood's 'really like'? For the matter of that, does Robin, or any of the others, come here?"

The Fool plops in a seat across from Will and smiles charmingly. He's been highly amused lately and feeling pretty good.

He's still kinda broke and his door isn't open, but the mayhem with Teja entertained him enough to make him temporarily forget his troubles.

"You look run ragged," he says.

"Aye, I'm feelin' it a bit. What can I get ye?"

"Eh. Nothing for now," he says and spreads his hands out. "Not interested in setting up a tab."

The idea really does bother him, owing money to some unseen thing. He'd rather scavenge than owe money.

"What have you been running around doing?"

"Dealin' with the Sheriff's latest plan. Then tell me somethin' new to ye from Milliways an yer drink's on me,"

Will understands that, he grew up with always just enough or sometimes not enough.

He thinks about it for a moment. "There's a human here who's from a place called the Old Kingdom. He's has an odd sort of magic that I've never seen before," he says finally.

Tapping his finger on the counter he says. "What's the Sheriff up to?"

Clem remembers Will from her own time tending bar; and hey. "One English pirate," she declares. "And all of the things I haven't tried here are illegal." She smiles. "How've you been?"

He laughs and starts mixing her drink, "Na too bad."

"Good to hear. Anything new in the forest?"

[will_scarlett]

"Nay, which is a grand thing, na too many new troubles."

[hey35andholding]

"Easy is a good thing. Very good." Summertime, and the vague, awkward flirting is easy.

Dixie peruses the specials for a good minute, before deciding on her order. "One Sweet Fire." And then, "since I'm new here, why don't you help a lady out and give me some good advice and tell me what a girl like me could get up to in a place like this."

"Any number o'things, milady. Depends what ye're lookin' to be doin',"

He smiles as he starts on her drink.

"Well," she begins, "I would mind a little bit of adventure. I'm a traveler, and I just love trying new things. And people."

She smiles and leans on the bar.

"Then ye'll be wantin' to go through some doors to see other worlds, changed 'ow I see much o'the world,"

Milliways does a lot of that too but other places made Will aware of how Nottingham is one place among many.

"Why, you mean to tell me I can walk out of this bar and end up in Alaska?" The idea's exciting and frightening to her at the same time. "Of course I could - you're here from England." She sips her drink and considers it. "Do you have any control over the business, or is it of the mind to plunk you down in the middle of shangri-la?"
