Normally Tumnus carries an umbrella especially when the weather threatens rain or snow. Sadly today when he was going to his house for a book he'd forgotten he owned, it rained.

Milliways was kind enough to appear behind his door, but his fur is rather wet and beginning to tangle.

He sits by the fire and orders a proper to tea with scones and a comb and towel as he tries to make his fur behave, it is rather curly. The smell of his drying fur resembles that of a rather clean but damp sheep or goat.

"I'd quite like some tea as well," Urquhart says, politely.

"Thank you," Urquhart says. He sits in a nearby chair, accepts tea and scone, and pats the dog, who settles at his feet.

"Yes I am," Urquhart says. "From a place called Scotland."

That is no secret any more, not for a long time...

"Rather cold, with mountains and lakes," Urquhart says. "The food is a bit stodgy and bland, compared to what people in the south make, but we make the best liquor in the world. People live in family clans that are forever at one another's throats, and wear woollen plaids."

Urquhart's priorities are a bit odd, and his patriotism is mostly aroused by whisky, unless he's talking to That Watchman From Manchester. Then, the Scots can do no wrong.

Urquhart chuckles. "Do they wear plaid there as well?" he asks.

"Check for chequered cloth," Urquhart says.

Puns weren't considered despicable yet in his time.

Urquhart sips his tea as well, and eats a bit of scone.

"These are good," he says.

He has a medieval sense of humour sometimes, no matter how much he reads up on science from the future.

"You bake scones?" Urquhart asks, his interest waking up even more.

"Oh yes," Urquhart says. "I like baking my own pastry as well, unless Sunshine is here, whose baking is unbeatable. Have you met her?"

"Her recipes have really funny names, but are incredibly good," Urquhart says. "She's taught me some things about baking so I get decent muffins even when she's not here."

"Names like 'Bitter Chocolate Death' and 'Caramel Cataclysm'," Urquhart says. "But you don't just try them once for the novelty value. They're really, really good."

[personal profile] scots_wolf 2011-06-11 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, they are," Urquhart says. "But you do get clever names sometimes that don't live up to their cleverness. These absolutely do."
