Summer's coming around and the days are lasting longer, which leaves Bill outside later.
It's early evening, nearing dusk when he finds himself out at the lake with Ellen's dog, Dogmeat.
Bill's sitting on a stone skipping rocks while Dogmeat lays in the grass beside him.
The two of them both look kind of depressed; each missing home and someone else.
Bill's taken good care of the dog, and Dogmeat has been a good companion, but sometimes you just feel homesick.

Looking at Dogmeat, Bill turns his head towards the Bar.
"What is it, boy?"

"Is it Ellen?"
Bill brightens when sees that it is her, then looks at Dogmeat and nods his head in Ellen's direction.
"Well go on an' say hi t'her."

She'll be up and over to say thanks in a minute, but Dogmeat's being enthusiastic about his hello.

He waits on the rock, letting them have their hellos.

He raises his hand in greeting, and smiles.
"You're welcome. Dogmeat was real good, I think he missed you, though."

Bill shoves his hands into the front pockets of his jeans.
"How 'bout you? Everything turn out okay?"

"I brought one of the lizard claws with me, if you wanted to see."

He's glad to hear no one was hurt, especially Ellen, and nods eagerly to the offer.
"C'n I?"
no subject
"Be careful. Deathclaws can cut right into armor with these," she warns as she rolls out the black talon.

Bar saved the food he couldn't finish for him and Bill later, the rats are going to take it upstairs.
It takes some looking before he spots Bill and Dogmeat, "Bill, what are you doin' out here?"
no subject
"Nothin'."
He throws a stone out at the water and silently counts the skips.

He doesn't like seeing Bill sad like this.

"You been workin'?"

The rock has some space so William sits down and gives Dogmeat a scritch and Bill a sort of hug. Hopefully he won't have to explain Ben Wade to Bill, he's not sure he wants to do that.

"Your pa? But I thought your daddy was... "

It makes William's head hurt just thinking about it and he picks up a stone and tries skipping it.

"He is? Is he-- how is he?"
no subject
Though just because his Pa's here doesn't mean they talk that much. Its all just strange and still hurts more than William wants to say or even think.
no subject
That's strange, and for some reason it's also kind of scary.
Bill strokes Dogmeat awhile before looking over at William again.
"Well leastways y'get to see him."
That at least seems like a good thing to Bill.

He goes back to skipping stones and silently counting each time they hit the water.
