Mel is kicking back outside, on the grass near the garden, with a large plate of fried paradoxes and a book, neither of which she's really paying attention to, because her head is resting on her arms. Stampy is curled up, trunk around her head, to make a perfect bookstand. Gates, the four armed spider monkey demon, is splayed out neck to her, arms forming an X, legs in the air, and belly exposed to the sun. Of the three of them, he has the loudest snores.

Small cute things that sleep sweetly can be very mean at times. They might be cats, in cahoots with the white one.

The first two, he ate.
The dog very, very carefully sniffs at the end of the looooong nose that sweet little creature is extending.

Although in the elephant's case, this also involves patting and feeling the nose being offered to her.

And a bit smelly, ditto.

Eventually he figured to hell with it. He could use a swim in the Caribbean inlet anyway. So he accepted the door's invitation and went and did just that. Now he's heading back towards the bar, towelling his hair dry, and nearly trips over Gates.
"... ugly little thing, aren't you?"

...is what Gates has to say about that, chattering angrily and leaping upwards. That towel looks fluffy; he wants it.
Mel cracks an eyelid open.
"Don't call me ugly, Jay. That ain't nice."

"Anywhere else, I'd laugh that off," he remarks. "Here, I wouldn't put it past you t'actually be that thing somehow."

"Now I am insulted," Mel says, propping herself up onto her elbows. "If I were gonna run around in animal form I'd at least smell better."
