This evening Ako bounces up to the counter with a soccer ball under her arm. It’s been a fine day out kicking the ball around and it’s time to have a drink.

“Something... something sweet Bar-san,” she says.

The bottle of sports drink comes with a note.

"All right,” says Ako, “But I’m going to need a few more things.”

"Sweet isn't really something I'm that fond of,," says Ellen as she looks up at the sign. "But I guess I could try, if you had something in mind."

"Hi Ellen-san," says Ako, "I wasn't thinking of anything in detail. Do you have a favorite fruit flavor? I can see if I can find a syrup for that."

"Um," says Ellen, thinking. "I had orange once. Orange isn't too bad... I'm sorry, there's not much fruit at home to choose from. But orange should be all right."

"Orange is a good one," agrees Ako, "I like apples too, but things like cherries don't work well in a syrup at all."

Or many things really. Everything tastes like cough syrup when you flavor with cherries if you aren't careful.

There's some rummaging and a little cheating with a high power freezer before Ako produces a slush for Ellen. The orange of the drink contrasts pretty sharply with the green bendy straw.

"Ta-da!"

Ellen reaches out to pick up the glass and yanks her hand back almost immediately. "Wow," she says, eyes wide. "That's cold. Seriously cold- I can still drink it? I don't need a spoon?"

"It should be fine if you go slow," says Ako, "Oh! Have you ever had an ice-cream headache?"

This is Ellen's blank face. She's not even sure what those words mean in conjunction with each other.

It's always the little things that trip you up. Mostly because you've noticed the big ones already.

"Right, um, if you eat things or drink things that are cold to quickly you can get a headache," explains Ako, "I think the sinuses are involved. It goes away eventually but you can speed it up if you push you tongue on the top of your mouth."

"Oh," says Ellen. "Okay. I'll take it slowly, then."

She's not all that clear on her head anatomy herself, but she'll take Ako's word for it. Especially since she can smell the orange and it does come across as pretty good.

Ako deals more with the issues of having had a great deal of candy in a short amount of time as class nurse than anything actually damaging. It shows up in what she knows how to handle.

"How have things been for you Ellen-san?"

"Busy," Ellen says. "I've had missions back home, and I've got another one soon. But a friend of mine from home has started coming here on his own, so that's good."

No sense going into detail about exactly what she's had to do for the Brotherhood so far.

"You might have met him already. He doesn't always tell me who he's met here."

"Is he really tall and green?" checks Ako.

Fawkes leaves an impression. Even being unsure about with which set of toilets to use doesn't do much to undermine it.

"That's him," Ellen confirms. "He's a supermutant. He was infected by a virus from back home a very long time ago, and doesn't remember anything from before then. That's why he's... well, that's why he looks the way he does."

A purple unicorn walks slowly up to the bar. This might be because she's writing furiously on a large piece of paper with a quill pen (without touching either one).

Ako blinks at that. Twice.

"Can I help you?"

Twilight looks up. "What are 'slushes'?"

[seat_five_girl]

"Cold sweet drinks. They're mostly ice, sugar and flavoring."

[no_vampires_plz]

"What kind of flavoring?" Write write write.

[seat_five_girl]

"Um. I know where a bunch of the soda flavors from home are and some fruit ones, but I don't recommend the cherry. It always tastes sort of chemical-ish," says Ako, "Anything else I'd have to go looking for. There are lots of bottles here."

[no_vampires_plz]

"Soda flavors from home," echoes Twilight. "Such as?"

[seat_five_girl]

"Coke, Pepsi, Root Beer, citrus, all sorts of things," offers Ako, "Um, are you taking notes?"

[no_vampires_plz]

"Of course," says the unicorn pony. "I have to document this place for posterity."

[seat_five_girl]

"But you're asking about me and my home, not Milliways," protests Ako, "I'm stuck here but it's not home."

"I'm documenting humans, too, so--" she stops short. "Wait. How are you stuck here? The door's right there." She points to the rear entrance with one hoof.

[seat_five_girl]

"The door to the area out back, sure," says Ako, "But I came in through a door that should be on the wall there-ish."

There isn't a door as far as Ako is concerned so her wave is somewhat vague.

"I'm Bound. That means I'm stuck here until something changes and my door comes back from where ever it's gone."
