Barbara rolls into the bar, and automatically looks around.

She spots a young blond woman behind the bar's massive length.

She swallows. And heads straight for the ladies' restroom where she looks around to make sure no one's there before taking a deep breath, leaning her head down into her lap, and beginning to laugh. And laugh and laugh. Until she starts crying in relief, the tears streaming down her cheeks almost unnoticed as she throws her head back.

"YES!"

[You're welcome to catch her if you're, you know, in the ladies'.

"I suspected you might be."

Perish the thought!

X looks slightly dubious.

"You have not met my teammates."

A tiny smirk flits across Babs' lips. "And who's fault is that?"

X's expression remains perfectly composed.

"They do not come here."

Obviously that is their fault.

Or something.

"And that's the only way I could meet them?"

Silly, X!

"You could visit. My world."

As if Babs would be interested in such a thing.

"Now there's an interesting suggestion."

Which, obviously, Babs has not thought of!

"It would be more difficult for them to visit yours."

X's wisdom cannot be questioned.

Or can it?

"You have a point."

Apparently if it can, Babs isn't going to be the one to do it.

X hesitates.

"You want to visit?"

"Why wouldn't I?"

X fails to look shifty.

"I do not know."

Beat.

"Sometimes people do not."

You know. Want to visit places.

Like San Francisco.

"There's nothing wrong with where you're from, is there?" Babs asks, managing to keep the smirk off her face, and out of her voice.

"It is less dangerous than Gotham."

Beat.

"Most of the time."

Except when there are alien invasions. Or the Dark Avengers show up.

Or --

"Oh, well, that's very reassuring."

Does it also have more oxygen than the moon?

Sadly, no.

Wait.

X shrugs.

"Usually there is warning. If something dangerous will happen."

Beat.

"And I do not have to look for doors. You will be able to escape. If it is necessary."

Or, you know. Babs is welcome to help.

Either/or.

"That's good to know."

Because Babs hates danger. And helping.

"If I visit."

"You can," X says.

It's kind of like repetition!

"I -- "

There goes the silence again.

Barbara silently cocks her head to one side.

Yes?

X looks down.

Probably at the floor.

Maybe at her feet.

"Someone is restarting the Weapon X project. People talk."

Beat.

"I cannot find them."

Barbara smiles ever so slightly.

"I'm pretty good at finding people."

Hello, understatement!

X's gaze flicks back up to Babs.

"I know."

It is why she is trying to ask for help!

Badly!

"Well, if you want me to look into it, I'd be glad to. And I've got some free time."

That last part was a lie, but she could do X a favor.

"That would be good," X says promptly.

Then, after a pause --

"If it is not problematic."

Beat.

"With Steph."

And, you know. Things.

"It's not a problem." Babs smirks. "I'm pretty good at multi-tasking."
