Twilight Sparkle has had her fill of the books in the Milliways library... for now, at least. Now she's moved on to examining the facilities themselves.

She is now experiencing an emotion that many, many new patrons, and a few old veterans, have experienced before her--an emotion that can only be expressed in the following sentence:

"...how are there fish in the fireplace?"

A sentiment that is almost as unexpected as...

"A talking horse?"

A long-suffering sigh. "All horses talk where I come from. Calm down."

"That's just weird." Though when you are friends with two shapeshifters, two witches, aliens, and guys who talk to fishes, maybe not THAT weird. "Where are you from?"

"I'm from--" Then she looks up and does a brief double-take at the human she's talking to. Even for a human, he looks pretty unusual. "I'm from Equestria. What about you?"

"Calfornia." Pause. "I'm gonna guess you're not from Earth." The horse is pretty unusual looking to Cy. Those eyes are way too big. And cute.

"............really weird magic?"

It's alright if Twilight didn't notice the lump on the sofa, under the blankets, or if she doesn't quite recognize who spoke at first. Tyler's throat has been taking some abuse from the cold, and he's looking a little groggy.

"That would be my--Tyler!" All her attention is now focused on him. "What's the matter? Are you sick?"

"Yeah, caught a summer cold," Tyler manages a weak and wry sort of smile and shrug. "I came down cause I didn't wanna spend all day staring at my ceiling."


"Again." There is only so many times one can reread the small library before going stir crazy.

"Well, can I get you anything? Some tea or a cold compress or--something?"

"Orange juice? I've already taken the cold medicine for now.." And that gets the ick face because children's cold medicine is nasty.

Bar might insist on giving him a chicken soup too if Twilight heads up to it to ask.

"Why not?" the Fool asks. He has accepted the fish. Why not indeed?

"...because fish are generally known for swimming? In water?"

He holds up a finger. "Generally known. But just because it's generally known doesn't mean that it's always true."

"That doesn't mean they can swim in fire!" Twilight protests.

Interestingly, there is a boy also watching the fish. Unlike Twilight Sparkle, though, he seems to have reached a zen state about the whole thing, and is possibly searching out the answers of the universe in the fish's movements.

...Or, he might just be curled up in a ball because he feels miserable. Humans aren't really supposed to have discoloration like that around their necks.

Twilight hasn't noticed the other fireplace-watcher yet. She waves a hoof in the general vicinity of the fish to see how they react. They don't, as far as she can tell.

Alex supposes this is probably one of the more harmless weird things he's seen in Milliways (at least, he's pretty sure a pink-and-purple unicorn isn't going to turn out to be particularly dangerous).

He even sort of feels moved to say something. If he could only figure out what.

She takes a step back, and spots Alex out of the corner of her eye. "Oh! Sorry, was I in your way?"

Beat.

"I'm not sure that they're real."

"Would you believe I was one of them for awhile?" Clementine likes bragging about that.

"...you were a fish."

Skeptical Twilight is skeptical.

"It was Cubefall," Clem explains. "I was a goldfish for a week."

"You were a--what?!"

She must have misheard that. Right?

"A fish," she says. "The bar has this thing where you can turn into someone else for a few days. I picked fish." Then she points in the aquarium. "And for a week I lived there."
