Teja is sitting by the fireplace, watching the bar, and brooding.

Those strange infections bode very, very ill to him. He has seen other plagues, blights and bizarre problems assail this place, and this feels similar.

Also, one of his axes is missing.-

Guppy... feels like crap right now. Not least because he spent most of the last few days eating ketchup.

He's sitting in a booth nearby, with a bunch of alien medical texts, which he hasn't had any success with. This would be because every time he gets close, the thing controlling him tells him he hasn't.

"Should you truly be out here?" Teja asks, when he sees him.

"We established the other day that I'm not infectious, remember?" Guppy says. "Providing I don't bite anyone, which I haven't."

Or so he thinks.

"You might sneeze one one that has a scratch," Teja says. "Also, that sickness seems to addle the minds of those infected."

Pause.

"Also, you look fearsome."

"Don't you think I know what I look like?! What if I never turn back, Teja? Do you expect me to sit in my room all day, never see my wife and kids again?"

"Those things always pass, as you well know," Teja says. "They last for a week, for a month at most, and then they shall be vanquished. Such is the nature of this place, as you know as well as I do."

"Easy for you to say." Guppy says, sighing.

"Is there any progress on this case? Is anyone else working on it?"

"I know not," Teja says. "It is not a Security matter. Yet. Have you set any to work in the infirmary, as you were taken sick?"

Guppy hesitates.

"No. But I don't know why."

He'll lock you up if he knows you're having voices and blackouts.

Bonzo sits down in a chair next to Teja with a drink in hand and sighs. He's noticed the infections as well...and doesn't like them either, even if he doesn't quite know what to make of them.

Mind you, he doesn't know about the missing ax...

"Evening, sir."

"Greetings," Teja says, looking at him.

"You seem...preoccupied with something."

Which might well describe Teja most of the time, but he seems a bit more focused on something other than the forge.

"Is it the infections?" He's seen and heard plenty, but he's still not quite sure what's going on other than 'bad stuff'.

"Indeed it is," Teja says. "Those may turn into one of the great oddities that this place sometimes breaks out in."

Wince. "How bad are they?" Somehow, those 'oddities' tend to be very bad, at least in the short term. Then again, at least in Milliways you get to laugh about them later.

"Humiliating, worrying, unnerving," Teja says. "We have had epidemics of nightmares, or a vampire hunting people."

Bonzo winces at the bit about a loose vampire. "A..." Beat. "The only vampire I've ever met wasn't much for hunting people. I'm guessing those aren't common."

Edward. Go figure.

"Oh, most vampires in this place are quite tame and sensible, and care about consent," Teja says. "That one was a rogue, very powerful, utterly ruthless."

"Hey, your majesty."

"Greetings," Teja says. "What may I do for you?"

He assumes this is about business, either forge or Security. In which the infections now count as Security business.

"You put the sign up, right? About the rash?"

"Indeed," Teja says. "Have you been infected? Have you see one that is?"

"Guppy, but you probably knew that. Spotted a few I don't know. I don't think I can catch it."

"I spoke to Guppy," Teja says. "Describe the others you saw, please."

"Uh... mostly just humans I don't know. Sorry. I just sort of spotted the rash as they were passing. There was that weird guy with the mask and the boxing gloves..."

"I have never seen one like that," Teja says, shaking his head. "But at least I know that there are several, and this is truly an epidemic."
