A moment ago, she was hurrying her way to the Hufflepuff dorms in-between classes to switch out her materials and have a moment to shed her potion-splattered robes (which have turned a bright green in some places, and burnt through in others). Once she enters Milliways, though, her steps halt and her mouth drops open slightly in surprise.
The first thing she does is slip out her wand and utter a quick finite incantatem. When that fails to yield any sort of result (such as, for example, the return of the common room to something reasonable like, say, the common room), she takes a few hurried steps so her back is to the wall and casts a quick protego.
With the shield charm in place, she can take a moment regroup and figure out what just happened. After all, it's common knowledge that it's impossible to apparate within the grounds of Hogwarts, so she either has to be seeing an illusion or she touched a portkey. Either way, it's better being over-cautious than not.

(He's terrible at being responsible.)
So he's swaggering over with a massive grin. He isn't in his Hogwarts uniform at the moment - a t-shirt and jeans was more comfortable.
"Hey. Hogwarts student, right?"

"Rose Zeller," she says, though not really expecting him to know it. In the ranks of the DA, she was somewhere... low. And young. And really, mostly there for self-defense reasons. "Where... are we?"
no subject
Wryly: "You've grown." Seamus knows everyone in the DA, at least by face or name, even if he's not really talked to them much. "A bar. At the end of the universe. Look at the window, don't be alarmed."

After all, that's... well, what a few years will do to you. Especially the ones around puberty. Glancing towards the window makes her realize belatedly that her shield charm is still up.
(It isn't anymore.)
She peers at the display. "Is it real?" (It's amazing, whatever it is. It must have taken the wizards ages to get the spells so precise.)

Except: "How am I here?"
Not to mention the ever-popular, where is here?

So, er - that's good. She thinks. "A portkey?"

"I'll think about it," she says, somewhat wisely choosing to defer that decision until she's worked out how much of a mind-bender this place is.

She will think as much as she likes, thank you, good sir.

Beat.
"That's why thinking is bad."

Maybe there is something to the not thinking advice.

The asker - a completely unfamiliar man - is in Muggle-looking clothing, although Rose may well recognize the clothes as being rather archaic.
He's also got a sword on his belt. It's pretty obviously not Gryffindor's sword.
He is, however, making no threatening movements. Indeed, he's just leaning on a table at the moment.

The most important question out of the way first.

And with a question like that, it's obviously her first time. Thus he continues, "Welcome to Milliways."

He's not really a smiley kind of guy.

Or when he just wants to get away. The bar is a versatile place.

Er, yes. That's not on any map she knows.

The speaker is tall and maybe just a little bit imposing, but his eyes are kind as is his voice.
He's dressed in silk and linen, his hair is studded with small silver stars, and he is clearly not human.
no subject
(Because that is the most important thing here.)

(Her voice only wavers a little. It's not as if he seems likely to provoke injury.)

She is brave. Afraid, but trying not show it. And he can feel the power around her.
Interesting.

Um. Well, it's a fair guess that half-elven is not a reference to House Elves - at least, not as she knows them(?). "Pleased to meet you," she says, rather more polite-by-habit now.
no subject
Elves are like that. At least the elves of Middle-earth.

Or something like them, anyway.
