Today when Posner comes into the bar, he has his walkman and a box of cassette tapes. He gets tea from the bar and goes to sit at a table to work his way through the cassettes. For the most part, he listens to about five minutes, fast forwards a ways, listens to another five minutes, and repeats until he gets to the end of one side, then pulls the cassette out and puts another.

He has a small notebook with him, and he frowns seriously as he jots down notes about the music.

Moist watches him for a while before sitting down at the table, he's trying to figure out what the walkman is.

Posner is so focused on the music he's listening to that it takes him a moment to realize Moist is there. When he does, he smiles and pulls off his headphones. "Hello."

"What are you doing?"

Moist reaches out to touch the headphones and caress David's neck.

David shivers a bit, blushing and smiling. "I'm listening to music. Irwin reckons I should talk about Tippett and Bruckner in my interview, but I don't know them very well."

"That little thing can play music? How?"

"Oh, it's..." He frowns, because he's really not sure how it works. "It's recorded on these," he says, picking up one of the cassettes. "Something to do with magnets. I'm not exactly sure how it works."

Moist shifts to sit next to him, his hand hasn't moved from David's neck,

"How intriguing, I've never heard of that being possible before."

David leans back into the touch a bit. He rather likes it. It's relaxing.

"Would you like to hear something?"

"If its possible, yes," He smiles and moves his hand up and down David's neck.

David smiles as well and moves to pull his headphones off. "Here, put these over your ears. This one's fairly decent, actually."

He really thinks he doesn't like Tippett much, but he'll play one of his songs for Moist anyway.

Carefully Moist puts them over his ears and listens before smiling,

"Its nice and people can just capture music?"

"Mm," David nods affirmatively. "You have to have the proper equipment, but it isn't difficult to get."

"There's nothing like this on the Disc. I think they once tried to do something with music in Ankh-Morpork a number of years ago but no one ever talks about it."

"It's a fairly new technology. Cassettes, that is. Recording's been around a while. It's still relatively new, though."

"Hm, its fascinating and the music's nice."

David shrugs. "It's all right. I'm not sure I like Tippett much."

"Its more relaxing than dwarf opera,"

After dwarf opera, most things do come as a relief, Moist is still sure that his grandparents took him to that performance as a punishment.

"Dwarf opera?" He laughs. "It sounds...interesting."

"They sing about gold a lot but dwarves do that all the time, more when they're drunk."

"And these are dwarves like...actual dwarves? Not just people with dwarfism?"

"What's dwarfism? They're dwarves, they're the best miners on the Disc and they all have beards and carry axes."

"Dwarfism is...a medical condition where humans are born...small. Or they grow small. I'm not exactly sure how it works. But you mean the real thing? With...gold and mines and all of it?"

"Yes, all sorts of mines but mainly gold, jewels and fat."

"Fat?"

"From the Fifth elephant when it hit the Disc. Cleanest and best burning tallow comes from the Uberwaldian mines,"

Moist has sold a lot of claims to not real mines and he grew up in Uberwald, he knows far more than he'd like to about dwarves.
