How Old Are You Now?

Clementine's not in the mood to deal with this. It's Halloween on her side of the door, and she just spent four hours putting out bonfires and . But when she sneaks in for a beer and a rest, Bar presents her with a large, pink-frosted cupcake covered in white edible glitter.


"Honey, you're too late," she tells Bar. "It's October back where I came from." And, though she won't admit it out loud - she doesn't want to be reminded of the fact that this marks her fortieth year.


But the cupcake's not going away, and it looks good.


She shrugs and picks up a fork. Her mood's already improving, even if it is almost two weeks past her birthdays. Sweets will never go out of style.

"Happy returns," Elrond says with a smile as he walks over to gave a closer look at her treat. He's seen this small ritual play out a couple of times here in the Bar and although elves do not celebrate their birthdays, he's been playing host to quite a few over the years.

Clementine smiles at him, splitting the cupcake in half with a bar-provided fork. She scoops it cleanly onto a serving plate, then scoots it over. "I need to watch my weight. How're you?"

He accepts the plate gracefully, but looks confused at her comment about watching her weight. It seems like such a strange thing to say.

As for her question - "I am well, thank you. Enjoying a few leisurely hours here before I return to what I should be doing."

She's Clementine - which means she always thinks she's a little too fat, when she doesn't think she's flawless. Her mind is divided, most of the time.

"Whatt're you doing on your end of the door? More invasions?"

He smiles a little. "Hardly, no. There have been a few bands of orcs not clever enough to steer clear of our borders but they have been dealt with. We are simply busy with the preparations for winter. Hunting and fishing. Curing and smoking meat. Drying fruit and making preserves. Such things."

He takes a bit of the cake.

"And how are you celebrating?"

"Oh yeah; I forget you don't have electricity down there," Clementine responds, blithely. "Sam'n I're having dinner here tonight. He wanted to take me out, but it's cheaper to eat here, and we can have anything we want."

He smiles at her. "That sounds like a good way to spend an evening."

Or at least she seems to think so. The whole idea of dining out isn't really part of his world-view.

"He's great to spend time with." The l word is unspoken, but it lingers there. "Do your people date at all?"

He smiles a little. Sometimes a word does not have to be spoken to be heard.

As for dating. "I am not sure. Try to describe what dating is."

She smiles again. "We go out. He takes me to a movie, or we go for a walk." Or to bed, but she won't reveal that part.

He smiles in kind. "We court a little. With walks and songs. Poetry. Dancing. But elven betrothals is not like those of Men. Once we meet the one we are to be with, we merely proclaim it in front of witnesses, and we are wed."

Clementine smiles. "That sounds so nice...so old-fashioned." Men don't court her that way, not that she's ever asked for it. "You have to do blood tests in my world. And sign things."

"Blood test?"

He's intrigued now.

There is someone behind her and he kisses her neck slowly.

"You should share that."

Clementine would know that touch anywhere. She smirks and leans all the way back into him, looking up into his eyes. "If you want it, come get it."

Sam holds her and then kisses her neck one arm goes around her the other reaches around getting a bit of frosting then puts it on her neck sucking it off.

She didn't expect that one. "Sam!" She's outright laughing as she squirms around in his arms, trying to kiss him.

Sam then kisses her cheek and smiles. "Yes, Doll?"

"If you get any on this uniform, you're paying for my dry cleaning." Then she glances around and grabs him by his cheeks, dragging him in for a kiss.

Sam wraps his arm around her and kisses her soundly his and going down and squeezing her butt.

Clementine growls into his mouth, grabbing him about the neck. If he doesn't stop her, she's going to make a play for his...

She pulls away slightly. "Nice suit."

Sam smiles then looks at her and then looks in to her eyes.

"Thanks, glad you like it. I would take you out but your all Uniform like"

"Sit," she demands. "We can eat out here." Then she asks, "on a job?"

Sam then smiles and sits down beside her as he nods. "Yes, I am but needed a breath of air, what about you?"

"You always know how to find me." She finds that sexy, for some reason. "On a break." Which means she just randomly ditched her cruiser somewhere for an hour. "It's almost Halloween, and they don't pay me enough to put up with what the people of Reno throw at me every year."
