(OOM:The world changes.)
There was so much to be done but it was agreed that a small rest would make sense. Not a full night's sleep but some time in a proper bed. Sam's leg was hurting again as he opened the door to his room in the Abhorsen's House and found Milliways staring back at him.

Quickly he steps through for fear it won't be there again, the last time he was here feels a lifetime ago and the weight of the Milliways' Dead is strange. He walks towards fire with a small limp as the lights reflect off his new surcoat of the gold royal towers crossed with the Wallmaker's silver trowel.

Once he sits down, he ends up staring into the fire and trying to get his thoughts in order but he's not sure it will work any better here than at the Abhorsen's House.

"Not everything in that is literal," he says. "That's why it's difficult to explain."

"Then why would you use a phrase like that, its not one you use lightly."

"I don't know why it's worded that way," he says. "I didn't write it or decide on the words to use."

"But you grew up believing them and defining yourself by these words? So what do they mean to you?"

"They mean that when I die, my body will cease to draw breath, but my soul will not cease to be."

"Well, yes, but why would you build a religion around that?"

He shrugs. "Why not?"

"Because its true and not something that's questioned,"

Sam is possibly forgetting that his world is one where everyone knows what happens after Death, its not something you even consider.

"But everything after death in my world is unknown," he says. "Nobody's ever come back."

"Oh, so this is about a way to deal with that? But in the prayer it sounds like someone did come back or did I read it wrong?"

"No one alive now knows for sure if the Christ did rise from the dead," he says slowly, choosing his words carefully. "But we choose to believe He did. And we hope the same will be true for us, when the world ends. But we don't know when that will be, or what will happen, and that's why we pray."

Sam's feeling very confused by all of this and its making his head hurt as he thinks his interpretation is wrong but its still sounding like what Silas is saying.

And then he yawns, "Sorry, it just doesn't make any sense to me or the way I'm understanding it isn't how you do."

Silas' mouth twitches in pale imitation of a smile. "No, people in my own world are confused by it as well. It's hard to explain."

"Then why follow something that doesn't make sense?"

"It makes sense to me," he says. "To many people."

"Sorry for all the questions. I just like knowing how things work and even at home most people can't answer all the things I want to know,"

Though as Wallmaker now he can try and find some of those answers.

Silas smiles gently. "It's all right. I'll find you a book on the catechism, so you can get better answers than I can give."

"Thank you, its very different from what I know,"

He yawns again, "I think I'm going to rest. It was nice to meet you."
