Urquhart is on a sofa by the fireplace, apparently fast asleep.

The big solid white-and-brown spotted dog lying over his feet actually is sleeping, and snoring loudly.

He does open his eyes after a bit.

"Morning," he says. "It seems I got company."

"Something like that," she says, taking a pen to the margins of her book, already heavily marked. "You left some space, I decided to take it."

"Instead of that in another chair, sofa, or other seat," Urquhart says, grinning up at her. "What are you reading?"

"A book on mechanical engineering," she says, holding the cover out to him. Her shirt is very nearly skintight, though the bold black arrow and phrase I'm up here printed across her chest might give some clue as to her sort of demeanor.

Not your usual kind of engineering student.

"What kind of machines are you planning to build?" Urquhart asks, looking at the cover.

And grinning into her eyes. Definitely not reading her shirt.

In answer she just hold up a forearm, flexing her fingers--still as always covered in metal.

"Machines to integrate with your special powers?" Urquhart says. "Did you ever talk to a young lady named Jordan Kennedy, here?"

"Doesn't ring a bell," she says. "Should it?"

"She build herself an artificial arm, to replace the one she lost," Urquhart says.

"Well, I still have both of mine. They're just cased in metal, not replaced by it."

[scots_wolf]

"But I'm sure you might give each other interesting new ideas," Urquhart says. "Even if the execution differs."

[electro_kinetic]

"If she can figure out how to reliably harness electricity, I'll consider it a miracle," she says lightly. "Besides, I'm not so hot on the implanted cybernetics."

"Oh, she can," Urquhart says. "Just talk to her and see if she's not interesting and inspiring in an engineering kind of way."
