If you smell pie as you enter the bar this evening, it's not your imagination. One of the central tables is laden with pies. Pumpkin pies, pumpkin cheesecakes, sweet potato pies, apple pies, apple-caramel pies, cherry pies... so many different kinds!
And there's a familiar baker sitting nearby, and a little sign:

The Fool drifts over to the yummy scent of pie and leans against a chair at the center table. His hat falls over his face and he pushes it back up onto his head, the paper crown tumbling onto the table.
"Those smell lovely."

Of course the Fool's cooking skills extend to putting potatoes in the fire and baking them.

"Sweet of you to say, but you haven't even tried them yet!" Teasing him? Just a little. Maybe.
no subject
There's something wrong with how he says that.
Just... wrong.

Now there's a mental image.

"What's that got to do with chess?"
no subject
"The game? Nothing," she replies. "But that's its name."

"Some say it's a corruption of 'cheese pie,' which is silly because there's no cheese in it. Others say it's a corruption of 'chest pie,' because it's so sweet it can be kept in a pie chest without refridgeration and it won't go back. Still others say it's just a corruption of 'Just pie.'"
What are you making?
Jes' pie.

"Oh man," she says looking between different pies, "Did you make all of these?"

"...Of course, any time of year is perfect for pie, but autumn is just more perfect."

A slice of fresh pie beats a bowl of cereal cold in the morning.

"Though my best sellers have always been my own creations. Cinnamon Rolls As Big As Your Head, Bitter Chocolate Death, Killer Zebras, Chocoholia, Meringuamania, Lemon Lechery, Caramel Cataclysms.... you get the idea. The less redeeming social value a specific piece of baked deliciousness has, the more I specialize in it."

"Well, usually I start people off on a cinnamon roll, but all I have are pies, today. It's a pie time of year. And specifically autumny pies, like pumpkin, sweet potato, pecan and apple, sweet and spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. Which would you like to try first?"

"Hi! How've you been, Sunshine?"
no subject
By 'ups and downs,' Rae means that she's had significant headway in vampire diplomacy and in the use of magic, but she has also been suffering from the violent loss of her apprentice and the stress brought about by security around her being tightened against her will.

Sunshine would get a wide-eyed look of amazement if she knew that - one day she will.. The biggest problem she's had in the past couple of days would be Shawn using her colander to strain his macaroni and cheese.
"You mentioned you do requests," she holds out a tiny slip of paper, "I have a tiny proposition."
no subject
"I do big propositions, too!" she assures her, chuckling as she takes the piece of paper.
no subject
On the piece of paper are somewhat incoherent instructions in a hand that's not Juliet's own for the making of a cinnamon custard pie.
"My boyfriend finally squeezed his favorite recipe out of a vendor at the cinnamon festival he goes to every year. I can't quite make everything out." She shrugs. "Could you help me with the missing bits?"
