Posner is curled up by the fire reading (for fun!) a book of Thomas Hardy poems. He has a cup of tea and a plate of biscuits and looks very cozy indeed.

In a corner a ways away from him, Orpheus is strumming his guitar, carefully picking out a wintery tune, lamenting the shortened days, the frosty nights. It's a bit colder in that area of the bar than it usually is.

At the bar itself, Nikola is sitting, contemplating what appears to be a vial of blood. He looks more determined than melancholy, though there's a bit of that in his expression as well.

Near the back door, Alcide stands. It's throwing him off, the way the date here is different than it is back home. He knows it shouldn't be anywhere near the full moon, but he can practically feel it just outside the door.

It's not that he needs to run; it's more that he wants to, intensely curious about what the woods out there are really like.

Alcide curls his hands around the cup, letting it warm his fingers a bit. He doesn't realize yet that he's being watched.

After a few stretches, William stands up and walks over to Alcide,

"It looks like the cold suits you, sir."

He grins over at William when he sees him. "Yeah, I think it does. I wasn't so sure at first."

"If I hadn't seen you go out wouldn't have thought you'd have been in it,"

He's probably something like Katya but William doesn't know of a polite way to ask, do you turn into a tiger?

"Yeah, I'm usually good with the cold," Alcide says.

He'd probably be vaguely offended at the implication he's a were-tiger.

Katya's an Other but William isn't that good at telling apart supernatural species,

"Even though you're from Louisiana?"

"Yeah. Better at it'n most, at least."

He's spent a little time out of Louisiana and Mississippi, just not much.

William orders a coffee and looks down into it for a while,

"Do you like the cold?"

"Oh, I don't know if I'd go that far."

"You went out in a snowstorm, sir."

He chuckles. "Yeah, I suppose I did, huh. That wasn't so much about likin' the snow."

"What was it about, sir?"

He's curious and while the man's a lot bigger than him, he just wants to know. Later when he's fully awake he'll realize how stupid this is.

"Tryin' somethin' new, I guess."

He's not sure he has a better answer than that.

William nods and drinks his coffee, "Milliways is good for that."

"Yeah, I guess it would be. I ain't been comin' here all that long."

"How are you findin' it? I'm William Evans by the way,"

They missed introductions at some point and William offers Alcide his hand. He still wants to know how Alcide didn't get cold but hopefully that will come up in time.

"Alcide Herveaux." He takes William's hand and shakes it. His own hand is quite warm.

"It's an interestin' place."

"Good to meet you, Mister Herveaux and yeah, ain't nowhere else quite like it."

"Can't imagine it's even possible for there to be two."

"I think that'd be a scary thing."

"Yeah, not the sort of place you want poppin' up all over."

"No, and it ain't fully safe. There's a mermaid in the lake who'll try and eat you and not all folks are human."

"Not everybody's human back home either," Alcide says. "Not that it's a comfort."

"Far as I know they are in my home."

"Lucky you, then, kid." He smiles a bit wryly.
