Posner is curled up by the fire reading (for fun!) a book of Thomas Hardy poems. He has a cup of tea and a plate of biscuits and looks very cozy indeed.

In a corner a ways away from him, Orpheus is strumming his guitar, carefully picking out a wintery tune, lamenting the shortened days, the frosty nights. It's a bit colder in that area of the bar than it usually is.

At the bar itself, Nikola is sitting, contemplating what appears to be a vial of blood. He looks more determined than melancholy, though there's a bit of that in his expression as well.

Near the back door, Alcide stands. It's throwing him off, the way the date here is different than it is back home. He knows it shouldn't be anywhere near the full moon, but he can practically feel it just outside the door.

It's not that he needs to run; it's more that he wants to, intensely curious about what the woods out there are really like.

"Yeah, that's a ways in my past."

"When are you from?" Urquhart asks.

"2009," Alcide says.

[scots_wolf]

"Yes, I'd have guessed you're from thereabouts," Urquhart nods. "Thenabouts. Even after two years, this place still confuses my grammar."

"You got a lot of experience with the 21st century?"

[scots_wolf]

"I've gone there on occasion, for work or pleasure," Urquhart says. "And as many people are from then, I read books to know what they know."

He may be a medieval man, but an educated product of the 'first renaissance', and is confident to understand anything, as long as it's explained well enough and builds onto things he's read about before.

"Wait, you've gone there? How's that work?"

[scots_wolf]

"With somebody from there," Urquhart says. "You can visit other people's worlds if they take you through their doors."

[shreveport_wolf]

"Yeah? You do that a lot?"

he's not sure he's ready for that yet.

[scots_wolf]

"Not a lot," Urquhart says. "Sometimes. When there's a good reason, or an interesting person inviting me."

He smirks. Reasons are sometimes work related, and interesting persons hopefully mean sex.

Alcide eyes him warily. "What makes somebody interesting?"

[scots_wolf]

"The contents of their head, their attitude, and their interest in me?" Urquhart says.

[shreveport_wolf]

"What sorta things are you lookin' for in head and attitude, if you don't mind me askin'?"

[scots_wolf]

"Openness," Urquhart says. "The willingness to think for themselves. Enjoying the good things in life without angsting about moral implications."
