Europe is hurting and Demeter can only provide small relief in fresh bread, good health and the healing of tired fields.
She can't make the money be worth what it should be or create jobs for those who need them.
When she walks through the front door, snow is swirling around her and she pulls her cloak tight as she goes to sit by the fire with her feet pulled under her.
Some days it's hard to recall that Spring will come again. Here the asks are fewer and there are those who understand for which she is grateful as she orders a hot wine.

Orpheus is feeling a bit bogged down by winter as well. He comes up to the bar next to her and orders a coffee for himself.
"My lady," he greets her.

"Orpheus, how are you?"
She moves over to lean against him, today she is feeling old.

He curls an arm around her for support.

He gets a side hug and a kiss on the cheek and she's glad he's doing better.

And he will put his arm around his friend, the moment she takes that cup from his hands.

She seems weary, so Teja will give her what support he may.

The land she loves is hurting and she feels it, but he gives her hope as does Milliways and all it's life.

Pause.
"Carlotta has been bothered, in her world, by that girl who tried to injure her when they were still in school; but she is capable of dealing with that by herself quite well."

As she knows what will bother him, his feelings though Demeter thinks he's a fool to fear them.

Clementine's actually contemplating a large, lovely ring that she's been give. Between that and the pearls and the bracelet Sam gave her, she looks like she's robbed the mint, yet she looks surprisingly contemplative when she notices Demeter. Then she rips a large chunk from the heavy wheaten bread she'd been slicing up and places it upon a plate, sliding it over.
"Here," she says, passing over a solid crust of bread, "I owe you this from the spring." A good deed for Jones.

As jewelery is wonderful but Demeter knows not everyone is happy with things.
