Demeter is not made for destruction and thus left Milliways before the worst, it hurt too much to feel everything coming apart. Each day she has checked her potting shed for a door and when one appears, she walks through and breathes in life again.
Then she quickly turns around before returning with a basket piled high with loaves of bread that have been twisted and braided.
She sets the basket down and sits where she can look outside as soon she will go there and help to heal the ground. For now, she wants to feed and connect with everyone she can.

Of course, Count has told the little black cat of his deeds, and she him of hers in Gotland, and then they agreed to hold their human to his words of 'not enough cream and tuna in the world'.
So the cats take care to follow him not everywhere, but whenever he goes inside.

"We are alive!" he murmurs into her hair. "We are still here; the middle has held up, and we all stood as one."

Pause.
"I think the bar is not working yet, but may I pour you some wine, my friend, for meeting again at the other side of the end of all things?"

So says Claudia, having caught the smell in the middle of her Tesla project. (Proof of concept shouldn't take her long, and then she can put it on hold for the sound system.)

Demeter gestures to a nearby seat and offers Claudia her pick of loaves.

Occupational hazard, really.

"A proof of concept, right now," she says. "I think I figured out how to get these to recharge themselves instead of running out of power after the first shot. It'll be easier to sell my boss on it if I just go ahead and do one, so I'm doing that, and then tackling the sound system here."

"Are those for anybody?"

She moves the basket slightly towards Rue.

There might not be any butter or jam on view but Demeter can get some in a moment.
no subject
Some jam would be nice, but Rue's not going to push if neither Bar or the kitchen are running up to full speed yet.

"Yes, there is. You'll have to tell me which one you like best as they're all from my garden and orchard."
