This was...not what he expected the afterlife to look like.  That's the first thought, the first conscious thought, he has as he steps inside, gold optics wide with surprise as he looks around. 

He rubs the center of his chassis idly, as though over an old, aching wound. This isn't death. Or Braid's ship, either.

"So," he muses, quietly, "where am I?"

"It sounds complicated enough." Some bizarre ritual involving wandering around with their endoskeletal structure exposed? Sounds...very odd.

He's less surprised than Tyler might think about a sentient bar.

"I shall ask Miss Bar then, if I ever want to know." Which he has a feeling he doesn't. Not for a looooong time.

Just wait until the day he finds out what clothing meant and how humans are squishy, squishy creatures 80% water.

"Anyhow, I figure the last thing I oughta warn you about is the holidays. April Fools day is coming up, it's a holiday devoted to playing pranks and laughing, and sometimes you'll find your shape being changed on you temporarily. After that it's Cubefall."

He will wonder how they have survived, honestly.

Why...does Tyler warn about holidays? Do they require warnings? Oh.

OH.

"Different shape?" That does sound alarming. He shakes his head. "I've never heard of any of these." The last celebration he remembers is Senator Decimus' funeral.

"The random involuntary shape-changes only happen in Milliways for April Fools day, and for Halloween." Tyler answers, preparing to explain further. "Us humans? There's only a very small sub-species of us that can change from shape to another, like a Cybertronian might have a jet-mode or a tank mode, and one with fingers and thumbs."

Some hand-waggling takes place to demonstrate.

He hasn't heard of cubefall so...

"You said the Matrix is involved in incepting new sparks into forms?"

"You are changed against your will?" He frowns. "Who does this? Can it be stopped?" Because that doesn't sound right. Or fair.

"...you have no alt mode?" Well, that did explain the lack of recognizable kibble. Still, he figured there was something under the clothes he wasn't seeing. Guess...not?

He nods. "That's what the legends say, at least." Of course, where the Matrix was now...he has no idea.

"...no one does it, it's something that just happens for a brief time during certain holidays. Don't be hasty, I'm not finished explaining," Tyler says holding up his hands. "There's ways of preventing them on Halloween, but April Fools day it's just random, it might be a change in coloration or a complete change of format. They wear off after a solar cycle and you're returned to a default state."

"Well, the Cybertronians that've been here before celebrated a day that translated roughly into human language as 'Cubefall' the day the Matrix of life, or the Allspark, landed on their planet and started life."

He twitches back, apologetic. But it's in his coding, after all. He's a Knight: hunting injustice is sort of his thing.

"But it sounds...upsetting. To online one day and be something you didn't ask to be?" He's aware there's something he's not seeing.

"The Matrix landed on another planet?" He's trying to figure out what this means. The 'cube' designation doesn't make sense, either. "The Matrix--the one I know, is carried by the line of Primes."

"...alright, I think the way things happened with the Cybertronians I met might've happened differently. Is the matrix cube-shaped, changes it's size from time to time?" Then he shakes his head, STRAYING FROM THE SUBJECT. "Anyhow, I learned that Cubefall was the celebration of the start of life on the planet Cybertron, at least from the ones I met."

"I...don't know. I've never seen it. Only the Primes have." He taps his chassis. "The legend goes that the Primes carry the Matrix here."

He shakes his head. "We do not have this holiday. I do not know if your friends were from...my Cybertron? Though life is something that should be celebrated."

"It is...and from their Cybertron, it was also one of the days revered as a best for new beginnings or changes of format. I don't know how it managed to cross-over into the Bar proper, but by the local calender, it starts May 23 and runs for 5 days...and at the start of it, each patron of the Bar is given an option window of formats they may try out during that timeframe. I don't know how they made it work, but it does, and it's one of my favorite holidays here."

"It sounds wonderful. I hope I am here to see it." He tilts his head. "You've tried this? What formats have you chosen?" What would it like to be a groundframe...like Drift? He'd never asked himself before. It had never been an option, before.

[basic_powers]

"I haven't tried any cybertronian formats yet, there's usually options to be any one of a variety of different species. So far I've tried out dog, sugar glider, and cat..."

He just hasn't found a silicate shape that he'd want to try out just yet.

"Are these other creatures of your world? Is that the limitation? Are you in that form for the entire festival?"

He cuts himself off. "Sorry, I shouldn't ask so many questions. It's just...it seems like a part of my world, a part of my culture I should know."

[basic_powers]

"Yes, the dog and the cat are common ones where I live, the sugar glider comes from another continent on my world. There isn't any limitation on the forms provided, usually at least one cybertronian, one robotic, and a wide variety of organics." These are at least questions that are easier to answer! "And yes, once you pick a form, you're in that shape for the entire festival. The entire bar celebrates in some way."

"It sounds...," he shakes his head. "It sounds strange: strangers to my world can celebrate a Cybertronian in a unity that my own kind cannot."

[basic_powers]

"...you might end up liking it here."

[knightoflight]

"Since I don't think I can go home," he said, "this does not seem like a bad place to be."

[basic_powers]

"Uncle Ray says the best thing about this place is that there's good people, and there's always something to learn here."

[knightoflight]

"Uncle Ray?" That sounds like a title. He must be in charge, like Dai Atlas. "He sounds like a wise person."

[basic_powers]

"He's the best."

...there is some pride in Tyler's voice, Ray is everything he doesn't get to have in his blood father.

Sanity.

[knightoflight]

"I would like to meet him sometime." Since, you know, Wing's likely not going anywhere.

[basic_powers]

"You probably will, he's the one who taught me sword work, and he comes here to practice outside pretty often."

[knightoflight]

"He uses swords?" An unmistakeable flicker of interest. "I would like to see his technique."

[basic_powers]

"Well you can't miss him on the days he's practicing. He's the only one here with a lightsword, and it's blade color is green."

[knightoflight]

"A lightsword? Is that anything like a Great Sword?" He taps the hilt that rises up over his head, the sword hanging down his back nearly to his knees.
