You can probably hear Dumbledore coming as he carries his cup of tea across the bar this evening. Humming an upbeat sort of tune.
You’ll have to pardon him. He has a bit of a song stuck in his head.
The Hufflepuff – Ravenclaw Quidditch match came off today, you see. And some of the students had composed a victory song for the occasion, which they had been singing with great gusto when they thought no teachers were around.
The lyrics had been appallingly off-colour. But the tune was certainly catchy.

Well, she didn't really expect to hear the headmaster humming anything, but especially not that.
"Hello, Professor Dumbledore."
no subject
"Ah, Miss Evans! Did you attend the match?"
no subject
It's Quidditch.
Everyone attends.
Even the people who aren't dating the captains of the teams.
"It was quite the match, wasn't it, sir?"
no subject
It had been quite windy.
"It should prove to be quite the final match when the year ends."
no subject
"Though I'm hoping it won't be quite so long a match.
"Nor quite so cold.
"Nor quite so windy."
One game like that is more than enough for a year.

Mia looks up from her paperwork at the sound of the humming and smiles.
"Professor Dumbledore," she greets, raising a hand. "It has been a considerable amount of time since our first meeting."
As her most obvious state of pregnancy can attest.
"How does the evening find you, sir?"
no subject
"There was a Quidditch match today. Hufflepuff vs. Ravenclaw. Six hours, and the weather was quite blustery."
"How are you, my good lady?"
no subject
She leans back in her chair a little, arms folding over her abdomen.
"Something that begins with e, good sir. Either enjoying my pregnancy or enduring it. It switches depending on when the child is asleep at this point."
no subject
Dumbledore nods at the site of the impending (relatively soon, by the look of it) newborn.
"I have never had any sort of charge over an infant myself, but I imagine it is a bit more convenient when care can be passed over to a father, babysitter or other caregiver for a bit."
no subject
Especially if Gryffindor is undefeated.
"Considerably," she agrees. "It is a joy to be expecting but also a joy for the child to be here. Though the dynamic of siblings is going to be a new one for both my husband and myself, as we were only children in our families."

"I might almost deem it familiar were it not so . . . jaunty."
Many of the more popular songs in Fionavar are of a far more melancholy bent.
Shockingly.
no subject
"Quite jaunty, yes. I fear the lyrics are not for polite ears, though."

One corner of his mouth twists in the beginnings of a wry smile.
"Students are the same the world over, or at least so it appears. On occasion."

Dumbledore is firmly convinced that some things translate all planes. Love. Loyalty. The certainty that any group of adolescents will be the proverbial handful.
"You are an educator yourself, then?"
no subject
His mouth twitches again.
"I find myself more suited to the role of tutor rather than teacher."
Individualized lesson plans are a must.

"Hello. Sir."
no subject
She's familiar. He believes he's seen her here before.
"Good evening, Miss."

"How are you sir?"
no subject
He gives her a friendly smile.
"Forgive me, but are we acquainted?"
no subject
"I'm Ginny Weasley. Can I get you some Butterbeer or Tea?"

"Not taking cold, I hope?"
no subject
"Allergies," he said, "Uh...Can I ask you something?"
He looked sheepish at the other man. The outfit was what threw him off.
no subject
"You may, of course."
The type of answer he gets will depend on the question, but the man is free to ask.
