Look up into the rafters, anything out of place up there?

No? Good.

Anything out of place in the general area below?

..maybe if you look really hard, and think carefully, the blonde kid sitting in a booth and drawing carefully in his notebook might seem out of place. Redesigning and building the treefort is going to take a lot of good thinky work and planning.

It's so much easier to look over people's shoulders once you're off the ground.

Just sayin'.

Oh sure it is.

Which does nothing to explain why Tyler has switched from drawing out careful plans for new walls and doors and platforms... to a fresh sheet of lined paper.

And draw a thbbpt! silly face, complete with word balloon effect.

That's.. pretty discrete as these things go.

Certainly more so than hanging from a rafter and sliding into a handstand on the table, before rolling into standing next to the table.

"You're hard at work."

"Yup, the old treefort got wrecked, now I gotta think up how I wanna rebuild it."

Tyler looks up to her with a grin.

"We had a lot more help with the power tools for the first one though. Enzo's brother in law Bob was really handy with em."

Snrrrrk.

Artemis can feel the shape of the joke there.

"Well be careful," she says and then makes sure her hair is clear of the headsets she got from Enzo. They are a terrible green color, but at least it's green.

"Word is that there's infectious music going around the bar right now. Enzo's go a box of protective gear on the bar."

It's signed and everything.

"...oh biscuits, really?"

The face Tyler makes is particularly wonderful. Ew. Just..

"Man, as if the hallucinogenic flu weren't bad enough..."

He'll grab a pair later for himself. Really.

"It's like Christmas," says Artemis dryly, "Everything I ever wanted. And a pony."

"Says you, you didn't end up meeting the people you hallucinated yourself being later. For the first time."

He's never gonna forgive for that one.

"Earmuffs, infectious music..how does it affect the infected?"

So, you know. He can RUN.

Accurate hallucinations are an entirely different sort of problem.

"Like every infection, the symptoms make it easy to spread. They make music."

"....just music?"

Or is there something else about the music and the actions?

"Music instead of those little things, like sleep and food," says Artemis.

Not that people can't go completely crazy and self destructive over music normally. And then there's the guy who got struck by lightning and basically had to learn how to play piano because it changed his brain.

"Nnnnhhh."

Ick.

Well now it's back to carefully drawing out those plans for a new treefort. If it's spreading in Bar he's going to want a place to hide out from it...

"So it makes people obsess over music. And makes them play it so it infect others."

"Like sneezes in flu season."

"You planning on forting up to wait it out?"

"Was gonna rebuild the fort anyways since it got destroyed earlier..."

"But there's nothing like a pressing need to motivate a person."

"It's gonna be at least a two-person job." Tyler says, after looking at the plans again. "Maybe I ought to ask Nepeta if I can crash out with her in the caves."

"Don't think I've met her. What's she like?"

"She's one of the resident trolls, cat-like, grey skin, black hair, horns that're orange at the base and yellow at the tips, wears a green trenchcoat all the time."

"Trolls, like internet trolls or something more mythological?"

The description sounded more like the myths. Right up until the trenchcoat anyway. Pockets leans more towards electronics.

"Kind of a mix of both. Alien species anyways."

"Huh."

Well alien is just full of potential there.

"Any species wide powers?"

Shapeshifting? Eye lasers?

"None that I can tell, there's several here of their species, but each is different in their abilities."

"Huh. Well, sound like a plan. I'll be around too if you want to try the archery with a little planning and supervision this time too."

Possibly handwaved practices, but still. Training should be finished, not left part way done.

"I'd like that a lot, actually."

Anything to keep busy and from going crazy with boredom.

Handwaved practices are probably the best.

"Just, remember your sword too, hey?" says Artemis with a small smirk, "This is a trade after all."
