[OOM: "How do you feel?"
"I don't know the polite word for it."]
Patrolling the perimeter with Miss MacFarlane, he could do. Shooting rabbits and coyotes with Miss MacFarlane, he could do.
This low on blood, it wasn't like it was a walk in the park, but he wasn't dead, now was he?
Thing is, this was supposed to be his quarters.
And so as he slides the Spencer carbine into the holster on his back, all that comes to John's mind is:
"Huh. This place again."
[OOC: Open, but subject to instaslows and sporadic slowtimes.]

"Marston!" Jim exclaims. "Thank God you pulled through. Listen, I'm sorry we vanished on you. Wasn't our choice - that was Milliways's doing. We got a four of the bastards in that fort, but Williamson took off."

The woman to Jim's left crosses her arms loosely over her chest. Funny thing about Texas women, you can't always tell if they're worried or angry.
"You're darn tootin', this place again! Y'didn't think you'd shake us that easy, did you?"
She's really happy to see you, Mr. Marston. Honest.

Then, to Jim:
"Don't worry about it, Jim. Wasn't awake to care, wouldn't have minded if I was awake. I'll get Bill one of these days. Christ knows how, but I'll get him. I trust both of you've fared well during my recuperation?"

She takes a step closer, offering John an arm to lean on if he needs it.
"We brought y'back t'town, 'long with the help of a Miss MacFarlane, t'get y'doctored. Soon as we tried t'step out, this place showed up. Y'haven't had any trouble, then?"

It won't chase that hard line from between her brows, however.
"I hope you're plannin' on takin' it easy for a spell. Y'got my gun whenever it's time t'wrangle Williamson again, but y'better plan on stayin' a while."

"'course, it ain't like Miss MacFarlane's got me doing anything terribly strenuous. Just your run-of-the-mill cattle herding and patrolling. Heard we might be goin' after some horses soon."

She nods in Jim's direction, and smirks.
" — what he said. Y'gonna stand around all day? C'mon, take a load off."

He appreciates the concern. Really, he does.

He's going to have to start further back than that, isn't he.

What? Not everybody who comes to New Vegas can afford to take a place in one of the casinos. There are alternative forms of lodging.

You know. What with the psychopathic maniacs who think Old World shoulderpads and leather skirts and slave-taking and gladiatorial combat makes them Romans, and all.

Then, idly recalling the train ride from Blackwater:
"You wouldn't happen to have flying cars, would you?"

"Out of curiosity, why do you ask? Does someone else here come from a world that has them?"
